[Class 64 (i)] In a digester for cooking whales, a perforated rotary inner drum 2 has walls which, besides the charging openings, has closable openings 3, 10 of such size and so spaced that the inner surface of the outer drum is accessible throughout for cleaning and inspection. The openings 10 in the end wall are at different distances from the axis and are angularly displaced. The openings 3 in the side wall are peripherally displaced relatively to one another, and the drum is rotated as cleaning proceeds. The covers of the openings are perforated.
