Abstract

176,214. Wood D., (trading as Wood & Co., D.). Jan. 24, 1921. Shingle. and like distributors. - A shinglespreading machine for use with steam or motor road rollers comprises a hopper-like receptacle 1 mounted on wheels and connected by a draw rod or bar 4 to the roller, the receptacle being formed across its full width with a base aperture 11 fitted with an adjustable door 12. The axle 8 passes through the receptacle 1 beneath a jointed deflecting-board 10, and is provided with a driving- clutch and with beaters 20. The door 12 is adjusted by means of a screw 16 and a bell-crank lever 15 provided with a runner 18 bearing on the door. Endwise reciprocation of the door 12 is effected by crank mechanism driven from one of the wheels by bevel gearing and a clutch operated simultaneously with the axle clutch by a single hand-lever.
