Abstract

170,628. Johnson, J. P. June 25, 1920. Couplings, disconnectible; spigot-and-socket joints with packing at base of socket; tapered spigot-and-socket joints; bayonet-joints.-Tapering spigot-and-socket members 3, 4 are forced together to compress resilient packing 16 and then turned to allow the engagement of a tooth 11 on a bayonet-joint member 8 on the spigot with serrations 22 on a coacting member 20 on the socket, the serrations allowing step-by-step tightening of the joint. After adjustment, a locking- nut 25 secures the joint.
