Abstract
1505578 Heat-insulated pipes BRUUN & SORENSEN Ltd 18 Oct 1976 [17 Oct 1975] 42609/75 Headings F2P and F2G A thermally insulating pipe includes a carrier pipe 2 concentrically spaced from an outer insulated pipe 4 by means facilitating relative axial movement between the pipes. Preferably a plurality of axially spaced collar members 6 maintained in embracing contact with a steel carrier pipe 2 via clamping means 12, carry circumferentially arranged mountings 8 wherein ball castors-or as shown rollers 10, of nylon or cast-iron are mounted in rolling contact with an outer steel pipe 4. Mineral or asbestol wool insulation may be included at each radial side of the collar with a layer of polyurethane foam 16 surrounding the outer pipe and protected by an outermost casing 18 of high impact resisting polyethylene. The whole may be surrounded by a water impervious layer, e.g. of PVC. A joint for such pipes is also disclosed (Figs. 3-5, not shown) wherein projecting carrier pipe ends of axially confronting pipes are welded before a sleeve member surrounding the outer pipe is axially slid into bridging relationship with the spaced outer pipe ends and welded respectively thereto.
