Abstract

1427582 Toggle fasteners PROTEX FASTENERS Ltd 3 May 1974 [24 March 1973] 14314/73 Heading E2B In a fastener of the kind comprising an attachment plate 10 to be secured to, for example, the body of an article and pivotally mounting a lever 11 which, in turn, pivotally mounts a hasp 12, the pivotal axes of the hasp and lever being parallel whereby pivoting of the lever in an appropriate sense draws the hasp towards the plate 10, the lever slidably mounts a catch 17 which, when the lever is in a fastened position wherein the hasp is engaged with a tongue 13 mounted on, for example, the lid of an article, projects from that side of the lever presented towards the body of the article and the attachment plate and is interengageable with a retaining element, i.e. an apertured lug 20, mounted on the body of the article or provided on the plate 10. The catch is slidable relative to the lug 20 to disengage therefrom to permit release of the lever and has an actuating portion which extends through a slot in the lever to enable the catch to be disengaged by manual operation of the actuating portion from the opposite side of the lever. As shown, a spring 22 biasses the catch to a position wherein a bevelled foot portion 21 thereof engages the lug 20. Removal of the catch from the lever can be effected only after removal of the spring.
