Abstract

854,540. Toggle fasteners. BLOXWICH LOCK & STAMPING CO. Ltd. April 30, 1959 [May 1, 1958], No. 13857/58. Class 44. A catch for releasably securing together two members such as a car bonnet side 10 and a fixed part 11 comprises a keeper 12 on one member 11, a spring pressed latch 14 pivotally mounted on the second member 10 and a toggle lever 18 pivoted on the second member 10 and adapted to engage the latch and move it angularly about its pivot 16 into locking engagement with the keeper and in another position to allow the latch to be moved angularly in the opposite direction by its spring clear of the keeper so that the members can be separated. Both the latch and the toggle lever are pivotally mounted on a bracket 13 which is fixed to the second member 10 and the toggle lever has a pin 20 for engaging the latch; in the released position of the catch it engages a shallow recess 21 in the outer edge of the latch 14 and in the locked position engages a flat abutment portion 22. The toggle lever is moved by means of a finger piece 23 and its movement is limited by a pin 24 in the bracket against which the upper arm of the toggle lever abuts. The upper end of the bracket has a roller 28 to locate the member 10 relative to the member 11.
