854,539. Hasp fastenings. CHENEY & SON Ltd., C. W., TOMKINSON, F. M., CHENEY, H. W., and SHERWOOD, G. M., representatives of CHENEY, C. W.]. April 22, 1959 [April 22, 1958], No. 12681/58. Class 44. A spring loaded hasp fastening of the toggle type comprises an attachment plate 6, a manually operable lever 13 having opposite side flanges 14 pivoted to the attachment plate, the flanges forming a recess in the back of the lever, a hasp link 16 pivotally connected to the flanges and having a hook 19 at its freeend arranged to engage and disengage a relatively fixed catch member 9 when the lever is moved in opposite directions, and a blade spring 22 housed in the recess and having an end 23 anchored within the recessed lever by being pressed on one surface by an integral tongue 24 on the lever which presses the other surface of the spring into face to face engagement with the surface of the recess, the side flanges of the lever remote from the tongue being contracted and forming abutments 27 which support the sides of the spring. The attachment plate has a tongue 20 which engages the blade spring.
