Abstract
142,554. Campbell, A. Feb. 6, 1919. Lift valves; seats; materials, special.-Reversible seatings of glass or other vitreous substance which will withstand the lateral pressure of the valve members are formed of flat apertured disks 2 having shallow shoulders f, f' to centre them in their casings. The opening 5 is chamfered on opposite sides to coact with a conical glass or like valve member 6 which is loosely attached to a non-rotary spindle 10 by a T-shaped head and slot, as shown. The valve can be actuated by a rotary nut mounted in a bridge 13. The seating can be clamped between oblique or other flanges by bolts, as in Fig. 1, or by a union-nut connexion 7, 8, as shown in Fig. 7; or it may be secured to an internal partition by a clamping- ring and bolts, as shown in Fig. 8.
