Abstract

198,642. Etablissements Malicet et Blin. June 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Wedging or jamming.-A rotary plug or rotary disc valve is provided with means for slightly withdrawing it from its seating prior to rotation. The plug 4 is pressed on its seating by a spring 5, the opposite end of which bears against a loosely mounted member 6. The plug is provided at its smaller end with a member 9 having cup-shaped recesses 14. and the spindle 12 carries a similar recessed member 10. Balls 15 are interposed in the recesses, so that when the operating spindle is rotated, the relative rotation of the parts 9, 10 causes the balls 15 to force the plug slightly off its seating until the frictional resistance to turning becomes less than the turning effort, when further rotation of the spindle carries the plug with it.
