Abstract

1420111 Incandescent electric lamp PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 30037/73 Heading H1F A regenerative cycle incandescent electric lamp comprises a tungsten filament, a gas filling comprising hydrogen and bromine in an atomic ratio of at least 1, and boron, wherein the quantity of gram atoms of boron in the gas atmosphere is less than 10% of the quantity of gram atoms of bromine and is at least equal to the quantity which corresponds to the vapour pressure above solid boron at a temperature of 200‹ C. The boron may be introduced as solid boron, e.g. a wire, on the wall of the lamp envelope at a place where the wall temperature is between 200 and 500‹ C. Alternatively a gaseous boron compound may be introduced with the fill gas, e.g. diborane, tetraborane, pentaborane, hexaborane or borazine. The fill gas may be N 2 , Ar, Kr or Xe or a mixture thereof together with HBr, CH 2 Br 2 , CH 3 Br or CHBr 3 .
