Abstract

1475381 Electric incandescent lamps GTE SYLVANIA Inc 27 June 1974 [13 July 1973] 28687/74 Heading H1F A tungsten-halogen incandescent lamp contains a piece of tantalum for gettering oxygen and hydrogen, the piece being so located within the lamp envelope that in use the temperature of the portion which is used for gettering lies between 300‹ C. and 450‹ C. The tantalum may consist of a foil welded between a tungsten inner lead and a molybdenum strip embedded in the pinch seal, access to the foil by the fill gas being obtained through a void between the inner lead and the quartz material of the pinch. Alternatively the tantalum may be in the form of a wire or foil embedded in the pinch and projecting into the envelope.
