Abstract
1451877 Electric incandescent lamps PATENT-TREUHAND GES FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHLAMPEN mbH 23 Jan 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 3188/74 Heading H1F A halogen lamp comprises a tubular envelope 1 closed at each end by a pinch seal 2 and containing a zig-zag filament 3 extending generally in the longitudinal direction of the envelope, the filament being supported by a plurality of wires 4 non- rotatably mounted on a support tube 5 fixed in the envelope. The tube 5 is carried by a molybdenum wire 6, the ends of which are initially bent to U- shape and welded to the lead-in foils 7 to form a mount assembly which is subsequently pinchsealed into the envelope. One or both of the U- shaped ends can then be severed according to whether the lamp is to be single or double ended. Alternatively the tube 5 may extend through one of the pinch seals and serve as an exhaust tube. The tube may be of square or triangular cross-section at the points where the wires 4 are attached, and gettering substances such as phosphorus or zirconium may be disposed on the tube in the form of discs, foils or a tangle of wire. The lamp may be mounted in an outer envelope.
