[Also in Division H1] An electric lamp, especially for vehicles, comprises an outer bulb with terminals attached thereto to which are secured support wires serving also as leads to the lead-in wires of an inner lamp in the form of a double-ended envelope, a fuse wire being connected between the support and the lead-in wire at one end of the envelope. The bulb has a glass reflector 8 with a reflecting coating on the inner side, fused at the edges to a cover glass 9 and having ferrules 10 connected to supports 16 which also serve as leads to the lead-in wires 5 of the inner lamp 1. The bulb may be evacuated and filled with an inert gas and an arc quenching gas. A brace consisting of wires 15 in a glass bead 24 may extend between the supports 16. The inner lamp 1 consists of a tubular envelope 2 with pinched ends through which the lead-in wires 5 pass and enclosing a coiled-coil filament 3 in a filling of inert gas containing a small quantity of halogen. One end is supported from one of the supports 16 by the lead-in wire 5, the opposite end being supported by a harness 20 encircling the seal portion 7 of the envelope and carried by the other support 16. A fuse of thin nickel wire 21 enclosed in a glass tube 23 connects the support 16 at this end to the lead-in wire 5. In a modification, both ends of the lamp are carried by harnesses on the supports, the latter being connected at one end by the fuse and at the other by a flexible wire to the lead-in wires 5. In a further modification, the harnesses are omitted, the support at one end being connected directly to the lead-in wire and the support at the other end to an auxiliary support sealed in the pinch. The lead-in wire at this end is bent at right angles to the pinch and connected by a fuse wire to the support.
