Abstract

1399751 Photobleachable dye EASTMAN KODAK CO 31 Aug 1972 [31 Aug 1971 7 June 1972] 40346/72 Heading C4P [Also in Division G2] Photographic material comprises as photobleachable dye a compound of the formula wherein k and m are each 0 or 1, L is a methine or substituted methine group, R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or substituted aryl group, Z represents the atoms necessary to complete a mono or polycyclic heterocyclic nucleus which may be substituted, the heterocyclic ring containing the nitrogen atom shown being 5- or 6-membered, and Y represents the atoms necessary to complete a mono- or polycyclic aryl group which may be further substituted. The dye may be incorporated in photographic film base or coating material to produce merely a temporary image or as an antihalation or desensitizing dye. It may be incorporated in a silver halide emulsion layer or in a separate layer (e.g. below a heat-developable layer).
