Abstract
1339766 Photo-sensitive, heat-processable photographic materials EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 April 1971 [9 April 1970] 26873/71 Heading G2C Photo-sensitive, heat-processable photographic materials contain in a layer or layers on a support, (i) a light-insensitive reducible metal compound such as silver behenate and an organic reducing agent therefor such as a silver halide developing agent, e.g. 4-phenyl-catechol; ii) a photo-sensitive silver compound, e.g. a silver halide or a silver-dye complex; and iii) a silver halide development-inhibitor-releasing (DIR) compound which is capable of releasing the development inhibitor on heating, e.g. a colour coupler or a developing agent containing a releasable mercapto residue. Preferred DIR compounds are of the formula:- where R<SP>1</SP> is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl and R<SP>2</SP> is the residue of a colour coupler or a silver halide developing agent. A phthalazinone toner and a sensitizing dye may also be present. When a DIR developing agent is used, this may act as both DIR compound and as organic reducing agent, and when impure (lightsensitive) silver behenate is used, a separate photo-sensitive silver compound is not necessary. The materials give a visible image on photographic exposure and overall heating.
