Abstract

1313568 Diamond tools INDUSTRIEDIAMANTEN GmbH 28 Aug 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 41489/70 Heading B5E A holder for hard crystals, such as diamonds used for machining, comprises a chamfered front face 3 and is adapted to hold a setting 5 for a crystal such that the crystal projects from the holder with its face 12 inclined to its longitudinal axis by a predetermined angle. The holder is formed with a cylindrical part 1 provided with three slots 9 and can be expanded by a screw 2 so as to be fixable in a lathe. The front face 3 of the holder is chamfered and the setting can be secured in a bore 7 in the holder by a screw 8. The crystal 6 is secured by sintered metal 10 in the setting and has a cutting face 12 and its axis is at an angle to the axis of the holder. To vary the angle, different holders may be provided having the bores 7 at differing angles to the parts 1.
