Abstract

880,901. Milling, boring &c. tools. SYKES, C. L., and HEPWORTH, J. C. March 12, 1958 [Dec. 12, 1956], No. 37914/56. Class 83 (3). In a tool-holder for boring, milling, turning, &c. the tool 7 screws at 9 in a bush 3 which screws into a tapped bore of the holder 1, the internal and external threads of the bush being of slightly different pitch so that, with rotating of the tool prevented by a key 5 engaging a flat thereon, rotating of the bush gives a fine adjustment of the tool. Adjustment is facilitated by graduations on the sleeve at 11, and rapid adjustment may be effected by rotating the tool within the sleeve, the key 5 being removed. The tool and bush are clamped by a screw 8 having a chamfered head 15 co-operating with a split bush 17 engaging the bush 3. The tool may be inclined to the holder-axis as shown, or perpendicular thereto.
