Abstract
128,162. Johnson, G. T. March 13, 1919. Paper and like rolls, facilitating severance of.- Rolls 1 of toilet paper &c are provided with a radial binder or staple 3 penetrating to the core 2 of stiff paper, a segmental cut 5 and a transverse cut 4 nearly surrounding the binder, and transverse cuts 6 stepped with relation to the cut 4. The roll is flattened and secured in a segmental form upon a holder a with the weakened lines upon the concave side, whereby a pull on the free end 8 of the web tends to stretch the paper across the chord X of the segment and hence tears off a sheet at the weakened lines. The side arms b of the holder are hinged, one being provided with supports A, B adapted to he inserted into the core 2 of the roll, and the other with a catch adapted to interlock with a spring which is carried by the support B, and is inaccessible until the roll of paper is exhausted.
