Abstract

346,253. Match packages. JOHANSSON, J. W., Sj÷akra, Bankeryd, Sweden. Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28405. [Class 94 (i).] A match package comprises a row of matches 1, integrally connected to a base strip 2, the matches being folded about a line 4 situated between their head and base portions, and the heads 5 approximating to the line 6, to enable them to be grasped at the fold and torn off for use. Perforations &c. 3 are preferably provided to aid detachment. Striking surfaces 9, 10 may be provided for the automatic ignition of the matches on withdrawal, the pressure being obtained by staples &c. connecting the two opposing surfaces of the base strip which is, for this purpose, made wider than the row of matches. Adhesive may also be used in the fold 8 to overcome the elasticity of the material. The package may be totally enclosed in an outer cover, or may be attached to a cigarette box.
