Roll holders.-In a support for rolls of cardboard, toilet paper, &c. the free end of the strip or roll is retained in such manner as to be gripped readily and to be protected from dirt &c. by feeding it between a cutting knife 6 and a guide 7 connected thereto, the guide being provided with a recess 10 through which the free end of the strip is gripped. The cutting knife is pressed against the roll 4 by means of springs 9.
