Abstract

1,274,774. Casting concrete panels. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 11 Nov., 1970 [19 Nov., 1969], No. 56708/69. Heading B5A. A number of L-shaped concrete panels 22 are cast in a battery of spaced L-shaped mould members 12 arranged one within the other and so that the plane C-C containing the corners of the members is at 45 degrees to the planes A-A and B-B containing the edges of their adjacent arms. By placing comer stops at the junctions of the two arms of each mould space flat panels may be produced. The assembly includes two such batteries, one a mirror image of the other, spaced apart on a base frame above which travels a concrete supply carriage 158 on rails whereby it can be brought over either of the batteries. The carriage includes a platform running on rails transverse the carriage movement and including a delivery shoot 174 for the concrete brought to position above the mould spaces. The concrete in the mould is compacted by vibrators and heated by steam admitted to the interior of each mould member which may consist of steel plates separated by girders. To prevent bending during casting, stiffening trusses 69, frames 70 and hydraulic rams 72, 77 base frame are provided. Clamping of the members is assisted by tie bolts 76 passing through spacer tubes 75, and latches connecting together pairs of adjacent members. The bottom of each mould space is closed by base-boards and the ends of the spaces by stops, each stop comprising a beam faced with a timber former 32. The position of each stop is adjustable by spacer tubes 38 of varying lengths. The mould members may be lifted by rams located above the shoot with chains extending therefrom through the shoot outlet to connect with eye-bolts on the members.
