1,210,540. Treating synthetic aromatic polyamide fabrics. OSTERREICHISCHEN FEZFABRIKEN A.G. 29 Dec., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 59202/67. Heading DIP. The thermostability of synthetic aromatic polyamide fibre fabrics is improved by treating them with an aqueous solution or dispersion of an acrylic acid ester copolymer containing free carboxylic acid groups and glycidyl radicals and heating them at a temperature higher than 120‹C. The fabric may be impregnated with an aqueous ion-inactive dispersion of the copolymer, allowed to dry at room temperature and heated at 150‹-180‹C for 2-5 minutes. The treated fabrics may be used as dust filters for hot waste gases or as covers for hot mangles.
