1,207,980. Treating polyamide fabrics. OSTERREICHISCHEN FEZFABRIKEN A.G. 29 Dec., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 59201/ 67. Heading D1P. The thermostability of synthetic aromatic polyamide fibre fabrics is increased by treating them with an aqueous solution containing a condensate produced by the reaction of urea with glyoxal and condensation of the product formed thereby with formaldehyde, and heating them, e.g. for 2-5 minutes, in the absence of a catalyst at 150‹-180‹C. to effect curing of the condensate. The fabrics may be dried prior to heating. The treated fabrics may be used for dust filter cloths for hot waste gases or for covers for hot mangles.
