Abstract
1,182,795. Boots &c. W. BOTTERILL & SON Ltd. 21 Oct., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 47875/67. Heading A3B. A sports shoe has a sole with at least a part at the heel moulded from a plastics material e.g. polyurethane, said sole having a portion 14 which extends up the rear of upper 10 at the heel to provide a support for the heel of a wearer. The sole 11 is formed in three parts, namely a forepart 11a - 11c of rigid plastics material which carries spikes 12, a waist part 11c- 11d of flexible material e.g. crepe rubber, and which has extensions 13 which extend up the sides of the upper, and a heel part 11D-11b of plastics material which includes the portion 14 extending up the rear of the upper. The heel part 11d- 11b may include a recess or pocket 15 (Fig. 2) which contains cushioning material 16 covered by the insole 17. The joints between the sole parts at 11c and 11d may be stepped as shown in Fig. 1. A reinforcing tongue (not shown) may be provided at the heel, between the upper and the extension 14, this tongue also forming a pulling-on tab.
