Abstract

1,145,803. Reciprocating pumps. DISTILLERS CO. (CARBON DIOXIDE) Ltd. Sept. 6, 1967 [Sept. 16, 1966], No.41584/66. Heading F1A. Liquid is supplied under pressure from a reservoir to a diaphragm pump chamber 4 having inlet and outlet valves 17, 18 and an electrically actuated dispensing valve 20 electrically connected in circuit with a control switch and an electrically actuated valve 10 in an actuating air supply circuit to the diaphragm. Also in the air circuit is a flow controlled switch 11 in the pressure line and a flow controlled switch 13 in the exhaust line, both switches being in circuit with the actuating means of valves 10, 20. Actuation of the control switch opens valves 20, 10 whereby air is applied to the diaphragm to discharge the liquid. Flow through switch 11 closes the switch to hold the circuit when the control switch is released. When all liquid is discharged air flow ceases and switch 11 opens, valve 20 closes and valve 10 connects the diaphragm air chamber to exhaust through switch 13 which is held open until the diaphragm completes a filling stroke.
