Abstract

1,135,325. Rotary-scythe mowers. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A.G. 28 June, 1966 [6 July, 1965], No. 28889/66. Heading A1F. In a rotary-scythe mower of the type having a row of vertically-disposed drums side by side on a transverse carrier bar, the drums having rotary-scythe cutters at their lower ends and being driven, in pairs, in opposite directions, the row comprises four staggered drums the first pair discharging in a direction which intersects the discharge-direction of the second pair so that a single swath is formed. The two central drums of the series are interconnected by bevel-gearing to rotate oppositely and the main drive, from the power take-off of the tractor on which the carrier-bar is mounted, is taken by V-belt to one of these drums and the other drums are driven by V-belts from one or other of the two central drums. The belts and gearing are all mounted within the carrierbar which forms a hollow casing.
