Abstract

1,143,663. Rotary-scythe mowers. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A.G. 29 July, 1966 [4 Aug., 1965], No. 34104/66. Heading A1F. In a rotary-scythe mower of the type having a series of vertical drums pendant side-by-side from a beam carried by a tractor, the drums have vertical ribs extending throughout their length and extending outwardly of the surface of each drum. The drums may be circular or polygonal and may rotate oppositely in pairs, or all in the same sense. The ribs may be of triangular or semi-circular cross-section or may be hooked in section. The purpose of the ribs is to increase the entraining action of the drums on the cut crop and they may be of flexible plastics or rubber and be screwed or riveted to the drum periphery.
