Abstract

1,132,276. Cleaning metals. DIVERSEY Ltd., March 31, 1966 [March 31, 1965], No.14275/66. Heading C7E. Aluminium surfaces are deoxidized by contacting with a solution comprising (per cent by weight) nitric acid 7 to 60, sulphuric acid 10 to 70, hydrofluoric acid at least 0À5, phosphoric acid 0 to 50, a surfactant containing a fluorinated hydrophobic up to 3, and water 5 to 50, the percentages of acid being on an anhydrous basis. The term hydrofluoric acid is intended to include solutions of the following salts:- ammonium or sodium bifluoride, fluoroboric acid or sodium silico fluorido. The solution may be made up from two packages (A) an aqueous solution of nitric, phosphoric and sulphuric acid and the surfectant and (B) a dry mixture of fluorides and surfectant.
