Abstract

1,125,696. Pressing-machines. NORMBAU G.m.b.H. MASCHINEN-APPARATE-WERKZEUGE & CO. MASCHINENFABRIK. 28 March, 1967 [26 March, 1966], No. 13984/67. Heading D1A. A garment pressing machine comprises a shoulder support 13 hem clamps 31, 32 and spreaders (26, 27), a clamp 14, 15 to hold the edges with buttons and buttonholes together and a pipe 38 for passing live steam and a nozzle 42 for passing dry air to dry the garment. In operation the jacket is placed over the shoulder support 13 and the hem is clamped by the clamps 31, 32 under manual control and the clamp 14, 15, is closed. The spreaders (26, 27) move outwardly to spread the hem into an oval shape and the shoulder support 13 is raised by a rod 6 the appropriate height being selected by putting a pin 11 in either a hole 9 or a hole 10. A steam heating coil 36 is provided. Live steam is passed through the garment via apertures 41 in the pipe 38 and dry air is passed through a pipe 42 both for timed intervals. The central portion of the press is rotatable to facilitate loading and is covered by a permeable bag (not shown) to facilitate steaming. The garment may be hand sprayed before steaming and drying.
