Abstract
1,098,232. Builders' hoists; jib cranes. BRITISH HOIST & CRANE CO. Ltd. June 24, 1965 [July 3, 1964], No. 27477/64. Headings B8B and B8H. To erect the mast of a builders' hoist, cages 1. 2 are secured to sliding head gear 3 by tierods 5, a jib 6 and winch 8 are mounted on the cage 1 for raising a further mast section 7. The jib 6 is luffed by a vertical hydraulic ram 10 connected to the jib by a pivoted link 11, and contains no cross struts between its side frames whereby the mast section 7 may be swung between the side frames and coupled to the existing mast, Figs. 3, 3a (not shown). An erecting head gear (16), Fig. 4 (not shown), is then hoisted and secured to the top of the new mast section and supports the sliding head gear by cables (17). A lifting cable (18), Fig. 5 (not shown), attached to the head gear (16), is then led into the cage 1, around blocks (19, 20) and a further block (21) attached to the ram 10, around the second sheave of block (20) to an anchorage on the ram and cylinder adjacent to the block (21). On extending the ram, the cable (18) raises the sliding head gear with the cages to the top of the extended mast.
