Abstract

1,036,737. Mobile tower cranes. RUSTON-BUCYRUS Ltd. April 22, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 15749/63. Heading B8B. A mobile jib crane, Fig. 1, is converted to a tower crane, Fig. 4, by the addition of an adapter 40 between sections 24, 25 of the jib 60 which is raised into a vertical position. The adapter, Fig. 5, is attached to lugs 35, which normally join adjacent sections of the jib, and supports pulleys 47, 48 round which passes a lifting cable 34a. The tower 60 is raised by a cable 32, braced by stays 54, 55 and provided with a boom stop 62. The jib 22 is luffed by a cable 34 and the whole superstructure slews on a ring 27. In a second embodiment, Fig. 8, the adapter 70 carries pulleys 74, 75 on arms 72, 73 and performs a similar function.
