Abstract
1,028,946. Pipe couplings. HYDROCARBON RESEARCH Inc. Feb. 15, 1965 [Feb. 17, 1964], No. 6506/65. Heading F2G. A transition pipe coupling for cryogenic service comprises a light metal body 12 of aluminium or its alloys which is formed by forging, cold working or extrusion and a dense metal spigot 10 of stainless steel, copper or copper alloys which has at one end a sleeve 18 of a material competible with that of the body shrunk thereon. The metal body 12 is expanded by heating and a socket formed therein is subsequently shrunk on to the sleeve 18. The metal body is finally welded to the sleeve at 20. The spigot 10 and sleeve 18 are formed with cooperating grooves and lands respectively.
