Abstract

1428433 Pipe couplings VALLOUREC (USINES A TUBES DE LORRAINE-ESCAUT ET VALLOUREC REUNIES) 14 June 1973 [16 June 1972] 28271/73 Heading F2G To prevent the screwthread from setting up radial stresses in an assembled steel pipe joint, the crests and troughs of the mating threads 7 and 8 are either spaced apart or in non-binding contact. The absence of radial stresses in the axially stressed joint is stated to reduce its susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement, when the embrittling fluid is circulating outside the joint.
