Definitions
- the invention relates to a shielded connection device for installation in a wall or a frame, in which at least one supply cable provided with a shield can be connected on the inside to a conductive housing and at least one connection cable leading to a device is provided on the front.
- connection device of this type is known from WO-A-87/07775.
- the advantage of such connection devices is that a building can be pre-wired. If necessary, the connections for the respective services will be made later at the desired locations. If necessary, an adapter insert suitable for the respective end device is inserted, while changes to the wiring inside or behind the connection device no longer have to be carried out.
- connection devices of this type In connection devices of this type, adequate shielding of the conductors running in the interior unshielded in each case from the outside must be ensured. Furthermore, in the area of strain relief and shield support, it must be ensured that the shielding is not interrupted at these passages. This must also apply if larger tensile stresses via the cable, e.g. be transferred to the connection device. Furthermore, the strain relief device should be easy to assemble and easily accessible, and finally a structure is expedient which can be used equally for the various connection options (single sockets or multiple connections), at least in the basic components.
- the invention has for its object to develop a connection device of the type mentioned that this is generally usable and, in addition to secure interception, also ensures adequate shielding in the area of the entry point of the supply cable.
- a shielded connection device of the type mentioned in that a conductive strain relief device provided with a corresponding passage opening is provided for the supply cable, which also serves to intercept the shielding, that the strain relief device is formed in two parts and includes the supply cable between them and clamps and that the strain relief device is electrically connected to the housing.
- strain relief and interception of the shielding are thus brought about together, and the two-part design of the strain relief device makes assembly particularly easy and reliable. Since the strain relief device is electrically conductively connected to the housing in the assembled state, this also ensures good and safe shielding.
- a housing GH which is only open at the front is provided, which consists of sheet metal or a metallized plastic and thus serves as a shield.
- a strain relief device ZV is provided, the structure of which is explained in more detail with reference to FIG. 2.
- This strain relief device ZV also consists of a conductive material (eg brass) or a metallized plastic and is conductively connected to the shielding of the supply cable VC.
- the dimensions of the strain relief device ZV are selected so that it fits exactly into a corresponding opening in the housing ZV and closes it in a radio-frequency-tight manner.
- a sheet metal tab BL is bent down over the length of the strain relief device ZV on the upper side of the housing GH, against which the outer surface of the strain relief device ZV bears.
- the strain relief device ZV is screwed to the sheet metal BL by means of two screws SR1 and SR2 which pass through the rear of the housing GH and through corresponding bores in the strain relief device ZV.
- the screws SR1 and SR2 can at the same time also intercept the shielding and strain relief, ie they press the two parts of the strain relief device ZV together and also cause them to be held in the housing GH.
- the strain relief device ZV ensures high-frequency sealing of the housing GH.
- the supply cable VC has four electrical conductors (wires AD1-AD4) which are led to a corresponding adapter plug AS.
- This adapter plug AS is described in more detail in patent application P 41 03 928.9 and has on the rear side quick-clamping devices for a specific maximum number of wires (for example 8), while on the front inside the slot SL a corresponding number of (for example also 8) Contact springs is provided.
- the adapter plug AS is normally fixed inside the housing GH on the rear side. In the present exemplary embodiment, it is drawn out somewhat to the front for better illustration.
- conductive screw surfaces SF1 and SF2 are provided, which are provided with a corresponding opening for receiving a screw (not shown here) through which a front plate FP can be attached to the housing GH.
- the front plate FP consists of sheet metal or a metallized plastic and has mounting plates MP1-MP4 on each of the four sides, which are flat and each have arc-shaped longitudinal slots LS1-LS4, which are for mounting on a wall box (not shown here) ( Empty can).
- the front plate FP has a frame RA in the middle part, which is pulled up relative to the mounting plates MP1-MP4 and has an approximately L-shaped cross section.
- the front plate FP is slipped over the open front of the housing GH and this is also sealed in its front region (except for the opening OA) in a high-frequency manner.
- the screw connection can be opened via the openings OP1-OP4 to the openings OF1 and OF2 on the screw surfaces of the housing GH.
- Holding tabs HL1 and HL2 are provided on both sides of the opening OA of the front plate FP, into which an adapter insert AE can be snapped, the structure of which is also described in more detail in patent application P 41 03 928.9.
- locking lugs are provided on both sides of the adapter insert AE, only the left locking lug RN2 being visible here.
- the adapter insert AE has an insulating material plate IT on which a series of, for example, 8 conductor tracks L1-L8 are provided.
- a connecting cable AC is connected to this adapter insert, which leads to a corresponding subscriber device, a corresponding adapter insert with correspondingly positioned or wired contacting devices being provided for each connection case.
- four connecting wires are required for a telephone connection, so that four of the conductor tracks, for example L1-L4, are connected and are connected, for example, to the wires AD1, AD2 and AD3.
- connection to the corresponding connector plug AS (with regard to the wires AD1-AD4) is made according to a predetermined pattern that is assigned to the respective connection device, it is sufficient to attach an appropriate adapter insert AE in order to connect the pre-assembled wires AD1-AD4 to the conductor tracks L1-L4 and thus the associated four wires of the connection cable AC.
- a contact plate (shielding plate) KBL with a slot is provided, which rests on the front of the frame RA and closes it apart from the passage point for the connecting cable AC, which is also sealed with high frequency resistance.
- the back of the front plate of the adapter insert can also be metallized.
- the connecting cable AC is normally also shielded, so that the overall arrangement, when assembled, results in a completely shielded connecting device.
- the ABL cover (e.g. made of plastic) is attached to the front.
- a strain relief device ZV is shown in perspective, which consists of two identical blocks Z1 and Z2.
- three supply cables VC1-VC3 are to be connected, which are accommodated in corresponding holes, half of which are located in blocks Z1 and Z2.
- the shielding of the supply cable VC1-VC3 is exposed in the area of the strain relief device ZV and placed on the back of the cable sheath so that contact can be established between the strain relief device and this shield. It may be appropriate to additionally wrap the shield VA1-VA3 of the supply cable VC1-VC3 with a conductive foil (e.g. copper foil) FO1-FO3 in the area of the strain relief device ZV.
- a conductive foil e.g. copper foil
- the holes are dimensioned so that a sufficiently high contact pressure on the supply cables VC1-VC3 is achieved, i.e.
- the diameter of the holes should be smaller than the outside diameter of the exposed braid VA1-VA3 or the outside diameter together with the foils FO1-FO3.
- the hole for the connection for example, of a supply cable VC1 in the area of the strain relief device ZV is formed in two stages, a narrower hole BO11 being provided on the side facing the supply cable VC1, while an enlarged hole BO12 is present in the area of the emerging wires AD1-AD4.
- the result of this is that the insulating material of the cable core of the supply cable VC1 flows through the reduced cross section in the area of the hole BO11 when it is pressed together and is thereby pressed into the enlarged hole BO12.
- the widened bead thus resulting in the area of the bore BO12 thus provides particularly good and reliable strain relief against tensile forces PZ which act on the supply cable VC1 in the longitudinal direction. This is particularly important because during assembly such PZ forces can occur to a not inconsiderable extent.
- the inner diameter D2 of the bore BO12 is dimensioned such that it corresponds approximately to the outer diameter D1 of the supply cable VC1 in order to generate a sufficient pressing force.
- the reduced passage area d of the bore BO1 should expediently be chosen to be between 2 and 10% smaller than the outer diameter D1 of the supply cable VC1.
- holding screws SR1 and SR2 are provided to hold the two blocks Z1 and Z2 together. These retaining screws SR1 and SR2 pass through holes OK1 and OK2 in block Z1 and OK3 and OK4 in block Z2 and are finally screwed into the bent sheet metal part BL, as can be seen in FIG. 1, whereby it is expedient to use self-tapping sheet metal screws for SR1 and Use SR2.
- blocks Z1 and Z2 are each provided with two further holes OK11 and Ok12 or OK23 and OK24, which have the same distance as the holes OK1 and OK2 or OK3 and OK4 and also penetrate these holes.
- OK11 and Ok12 or OK23 and OK24 which have the same distance as the holes OK1 and OK2 or OK3 and OK4 and also penetrate these holes.
- FIG. 4 shows a modification of the housing GH shown in FIG. 1 and designated GH1.
- This housing is modified compared to the housing GH according to FIG. 1 only to the extent that the strain relief device ZV (which is designed in the same way as in FIGS. 1 or 2 and 3) is arranged in a lowered manner in the region of the rear wall of the housing GH1.
- the sheet metal bracket BL1 is bent further downward compared to FIG. 1 and a larger section is removed from the two side walls and from the rear wall, so that the strain relief device ZV is lowered relative to the outer contour of the cubic housing.
- the purpose of this lowering is that the supply cable VC is bent less sharply if it has to be installed in a narrow housing, for example a wall socket WD.
- the cable VC comes out of the wall from the right and enters the wall socket WD through a corresponding opening.
- the inclusion of the excess length of the supply cable VC corresponds here to about a quarter of the housing GH1, although it should be pointed out that a multiple of this value can of course also be "drummed".
- the cable VC could also come from the left and the supply length would then be accommodated in an approximately 75% loop of the housing GH1.
- the lowering the strain relief device ZV should be carried out at least by a value which corresponds approximately to the maximum diameter of the largest supply cable VC to be connected. However, the reduction is expediently between approximately two and four times the diameter of the largest supply cable VC to be connected.
- FIG. 5 shows an arrangement in which three structural units can be arranged side by side.
- a common rectangular housing GH2 made of conductive material is provided, in which only the front side is open and which has a cutout AG on one longitudinal edge.
- This recess is dimensioned so that there is space for a strain relief device ZV, with the associated three connecting cables being omitted here for the sake of simplicity.
- the strain relief device ZV is fastened to the inwardly bent sheet metal tab BL1 via fastening screws, not shown here, which pass through the corresponding bores BZ11 and BZ12 and BZ1 and BZ2 (in the case of ZV) analogously to the embodiment according to FIG cutout formed by the recess AG in the assembled state.
- a mounting frame MR On the front of the housing GH2, a mounting frame MR is attached, which consists of conductive material and has three openings OA1, OA2 and OA3, which serve to receive adapter inserts (not shown here), which are constructed in the same way as the adapter insert AE in FIG. 1
- the functioning of the mounting frame MR thus corresponds to that of the frame RA according to FIG. 1.
- Three adapter plugs AS1, AS2 and AS3 are fastened inside the housing GH2 and correspond to the adapter plug AS according to FIG.
- the mounting frame MR is held by spacers DS1 and DS2, which engage on the rear wall or, if present, an intermediate wall of the housing GH2.
- Two bores BM1 and BM2 are further provided on the mounting frame MR, the spacing of which corresponds to the spacing of the bores BZ1 and BZ2 of the strain relief device ZV are selected and they also run in alignment with the holes BZ11 and BZ12 in the bent sheet metal tab BL2 in the assembled state.
- both the mounting frame MR can be held on the housing GH2 by means of a screwed-in screw and the fastening and optionally contacting of the strain relief device ZV and its mounting on the housing GH2 can take place at the same time.
- the other side of the mounting frame MR is held in place by retaining screws which are inserted into the holes BM3 and BM4 and which are held in the corresponding holes on the screw surfaces SF3 and SF4.
- the function of the cover AB to be applied corresponds to that of the cover AB according to FIG. 1, that is to say it closes off the entire housing part GH2 installed in a wall or a housing, a frame or the like.
- strain relief device ZV it is also possible to attach the strain relief device ZV to a corresponding cutout on one of the rear edges of the housing GH2, similar to the case with the housing GH according to FIG. 1. It is expedient to attach the strain relief device ZV to one of the narrow sides of the housing GH2 or to let it in there.
- FIG. 6 shows a modification of the arrangement according to FIG. 5, which uses the same housing GH2 and also has three adapter plugs AS1 to AS3.
- the adapter plugs AS1 to AS3 are separated, that is, shown in the disassembled state, and they are here the wires of the supply cable VC are also visible, which is intercepted with the help of the strain relief device ZV.
- the mounting frame MR2 lies flush on the free (open) end face of the housing GH2, but the openings OA1 to OA3 for receiving the adapter inserts are not in the Level of the open end face of the housing GH2 are arranged extending.
- a sub-area MRT is bent out of the mounting frame MR in the form of a tab and extends at an angle, for example between 30 and 60 °, to the plane of the actual mounting frame MR2. In this way, in the inserted state, the adapter inserts are no longer flush with the front end face of the cover AB2 but are arranged in the lower part in this cover.
- the mounting frame MR2 is held on the housing GH2, for example, by spacers DS4 and DS5 (for example in the form of welding bolts), which extend into the interior of the housing GH2 or up to its rear wall or any intermediate wall.
- the connectors AS1 to AS3 can be attached to an intermediate wall or a holding plate (similar to Fig. 7) e.g. are held latching, which is arranged inside the housing GH2.
- FIGS. 7, 8 and 9 show how a modified embodiment of the arrangement according to FIG. 5 can be designed.
- a holding plate HB is attached in a large housing GH3, which extends from the floor to the ceiling and, for example, is fastened to the housing GH3 via corresponding tabs LA1 and LA2.
- the housing GH3 can be part of a larger frame assembly, for example a distribution cabinet or the like, or can be inserted into a correspondingly large wall or floor opening.
- FIG. 9 shows how this holding plate HB in detail is constructed.
- Two rows of openings OE11 to OE14 and below that OE21 to OE24 are provided, into which adapter plugs can be inserted, which are constructed analogously to the adapter plug AS1 according to FIG. 1 and are accordingly connected to wires of supply cables, not shown here.
- FIG. 7 shows one of these adapter plugs AS1, whereby it can be seen that it is held in a latching manner in the opening OE1 of the holding plate HB via a locking lug RN which fits into the corresponding additional opening OEA11 in FIG. 9.
- the associated front plate or the mounting frame MR3 is shown in FIG. 8 and has two rows of openings OA11 to OA14 and OA21 to OA24, the design of which corresponds to the openings OA1 to OA3 according to FIG.
- the respective adapter inserts AE can thus be inserted in a latching manner, wherein they are held by corresponding latches (corresponding to RN2 in FIG. 1) on corresponding retaining tabs (corresponding to HL1 in FIG. 1).
- the openings OE11 to OE24 are held with respect to the openings OA11 to OA24 in the mounting frame MR3 in such a way that the connecting plugs, for example AS1, in the openings OE11 to OE24 of the holding plate HB are exactly aligned for the reception of the insulating material plate IP1 (part of the respective adapter insert) eg AE1) are aligned and pick them up with contact after insertion.
- FIG. 7 shows a part of the insulating board IP1 of the adapter insert AE1; the left part of this circuit board is drawn in dashed lines because it dips into the interior of the adapter plug AS1 when assembled.
- the mounting frame MR3 is fastened to the front mounting brackets LA3 and LA4 of the housing GH3 using appropriate fastening devices.
- one or more openings DB are provided for the supply of cables, which are used for wiring or wiring the adapter plug, for example AS1.
- a housing GH3 according to FIG. 7 accommodate a total of sixteen adapter inserts similar to AE1, in each case in two rows of eight each.
- FIG. 10 shows a wall box which is embedded in a wall WA which is only indicated with the limitation and whose box body is designated WD in FIG. 4.
- the shielded housing GH1 also has the same structure as in FIG. 4 and the strain relief device ZV and the supply cable VC also correspond to the parts described there.
- the arrangement of the housing GH1 in the wall socket WD is made obliquely, i.e. the housing is partly in the wall socket WD and partly protrudes from this wall socket WD to the front.
- the adapter plug AS is provided, which can be equipped with an adapter insert AE (see FIG.
- the front panel FP1 essentially corresponds in its construction to the front panel FP according to FIG. 1 and likewise the cover AB1 made of plastic of the cover AB according to FIG the front opening in the cover AB1 can be pushed in and is held in place on the back of the front panel FP1.
- This cover AH suitably consists of plastic and encloses the housing GH1 protruding from the wall socket WD on three sides. Only on its underside does the cover AH have an opening which is designed such that the adapter insert AE can be inserted.
