Description
本发明涉及在室温下快速固化(25℃下指触干低于2小时)且可用于耐久保护涂层的涂料组合物,其具有高固含量(>70%重量)和低VOC(<250g溶剂/l组合物,g/l)。
最近几年对于可挥发溶剂释放到大气的关注越来越多,而降低涂料、密封胶和粘合剂组合物中挥发性有机溶剂含量是必然的要求。这对于要求低于20泊的相对低粘度以用于通常喷涂、辊涂或刷涂的常规方法施用的涂料组合物并不容易,而对于必须在室温下施用和快速固化的涂料组合物尤其不容易,例如用于大型结构体如船舶、桥梁、建筑物、工厂厂房和油井架的涂料。
涂料组合物通常需要含有聚合物来提供成膜性,但所使用的任何聚合物都需要有足够分子量提供必需的低粘度,尤其作为涂料着色后。这样的低粘度聚合物通常需要长固化时间以获得满意的机械性能,尤其在低温下固化时。
在WO98/04594中公开了制备可固化聚合物组合物的方法,该方法通过官能烯属不饱和单体在反应性稀释剂存在下聚合而进行,该稀释剂是粘度低于2Pa·s(20泊)且具有至少一个基本不与官能烯属不饱和单体反应而可与固化剂反应形成聚合物网状结构的官能团的液体有机化合物。这项技术的最大缺点是这种低粘度涂料导致最终膜Tg值低和耐久性适中。
在WO96/16109和WO98/32792中公开了一种环氧聚硅氧烷涂料组合物,其通过将水、聚硅氧烷、双官能氨基硅烷硬化剂、任选的有机含氧硅烷(organooxysilane)和非芳族环氧树脂混合而制备。加入这些组合物中的溶剂最大量接近420g/l。这些组合物意欲用作底涂或镀锌钢、铝、混凝土和其他基体的保护性涂层,其干膜厚度在25μm到大约2毫米的范围内。这些组合物作为耐久面漆使用,但在暴露于自然或加速测试条件(UV-A,UV-B)时其光泽和颜色保持性不如对基于聚硅氧烷的组合物所预期的。这严重影响已涂基体的外观。
US4,446,259公开了一种包括液体载体和基料的涂料组合物,该基料是含有缩水甘油基的烯属不饱和聚合物和其主链硅原子上连有烷基、苯基和羟基的可交联聚硅氧烷的共混物。这些组合物用作室温固化的保护涂层。这些组合物的主要缺点是组合物中存在较大量的有机溶剂。
EP0 822 240公开了一种涂料树脂组合物,该组合物包括有机硅烷、丙烯酸系树脂和固化催化剂的二氧化硅分散的低聚物溶液。涂料树脂组合物的平均固含量为40-50%重量。因此,这些涂料组合物的VOC远大于250g/l。
WO97/22728公开了一种耐热粉末涂料组合物,该组合物包含至少一种缩水甘油基官能的聚丙烯酸系聚合物和至少一种羟基官能的聚硅氧烷。该组合物在温度大于约250℃下固化。这种高固化温度使该组合物不适用于大型结构体如船舶、桥梁等的涂敷。此外,如果不加热涂敷表面,该涂料组合物不能固化。
本发明提供了解决上述现有技术所具有的缺点的方案。本发明的室温固化的涂料组合物包括:

其中每个R1独立地选自至多六个碳原子的烷基、芳基、烷氧基,反应性缩水甘油氧基和OSi(OR3)3基团,其中每个R3独立地具有与R1相同的含义,每个R2选自氢和至多六个碳原子的烷基和芳基,其中n值经选择使聚硅氧烷分子量在500到约5,000的范围内,优选500-2,000,-缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物,和-硬化剂。
优选R1和R2包括少于六个碳原子的基团以促使聚硅氧烷快速水解,水解反应由水解产物醇类似物的挥发性推动。多于六个碳原子的R1和R2基团则由于每个醇类似物的较低挥发性往往会减弱聚硅氧烷的水解。
优选使用烷氧基甲硅烷基官能的聚硅氧烷。分子量在大约400-2000范围内的甲氧基-、乙氧基-和硅烷醇-官能的聚硅氧烷优选用于配制本发明涂料组合物。分子量低于400的甲氧基-、乙氧基-和硅烷醇-官能的聚硅氧烷将会造成涂料组合物呈脆性且耐冲击性差。尽管优选使用分子量低于2000的聚硅氧烷,但可使用任何分子量高于400的液体甲氧基-、乙氧基-和硅烷醇-官能的聚硅氧烷,因为它们能生产要求较少额外溶剂(如果使用的话)以达到施用粘度的组合物,即该组合物在不添加超过现有挥发性有机物含量(VOC)要求的溶剂情况下就可使用。总之,高分子量聚硅氧烷可通过与反应性或非反应性稀释剂混合在不违背VOC要求下使用。但是,通常这将会影响膜的性能。
可用于本发明组合物中的合适聚硅氧烷包括:DC3037和DC3074(均来自Dow Corning),或SY231,SY550和MSE100(均来自Wacker)。
缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物可通过一种或多种烯属不饱和单体与缩水甘油基官能的烯属不饱和单体共聚而制备。
能与这种缩水甘油基官能的烯属不饱和单体共聚的烯属不饱和单体的例子有丙烯酸酯如(甲基)丙烯酸丁酯,(甲基)丙烯酸甲酯,(甲基)丙烯酸乙酯,(甲基)丙烯酸丙酯,(甲基)丙烯酸正己酯,(甲基)丙烯酸异丙酯,(甲基)丙烯酸丁酯,甲基丙烯酸或丙烯酸的2-乙基己酯,(甲基)丙烯酸环己酯,(甲基)丙烯酸2,2,5-三甲基环己酯,(甲基)丙烯酸异冰片酯,丙烯腈,甲基丙烯腈,(甲基)丙烯酸三甲氧基甲硅烷基丙酯,以及乙烯基化合物如苯乙烯,乙酸乙烯酯或氯乙烯,其中(甲基)丙烯酸酯表示丙烯酸酯或甲基丙烯酸酯。
缩水甘油基官能的烯属不饱和单体通常可以是用一个或多个环氧化物基团官能化的任何一种上述烯属不饱和单体。甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯是在制备缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物中优选的单体之一。
为制备低VOC的涂料组合物,可以制备缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物,例如通过存在反应性稀释剂的自由基聚合或任何其他反应,该稀释剂是一种25℃下粘度低于2Pa·s(20泊)的有机化合物。优选使用具有至少一个基本不与烯属不饱和单体反应而能与固化剂反应形成聚合物网状结构的官能团的反应性稀释剂。发现低粘度聚硅氧烷可以在存在于本发明涂料组合物中的缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物的制备中使用。
在高度优选的实施方案中,反应性稀释剂是聚硅氧烷,而且该聚硅氧烷与本发明涂料组合物中所所存在的聚硅氧烷相同。
在制备缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物中可以使用的反应性稀释剂包括烷氧基甲硅烷基官能的聚硅氧烷,如DC3037和DC3074(均来自DowCorning),或SY231、SY550和MSE100(均来自Wacker),单体烷氧基硅烷,如三甲氧基丙基硅烷和二甲氧基二苯基硅烷,以及有机官能的单体烷氧基硅烷,如缩水甘油氧丙基三甲氧基硅烷、缩水甘油氧丙基三乙氧基硅烷、乙酰乙酰氧基丙基三甲氧基硅烷和乙酰乙酰氧基丙基三乙氧基硅烷。
当通过在也存在于涂料组合物中的聚硅氧烷中聚合包含甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯和丙烯酸丁酯的混合物得到缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物时得到非常良好的结果。任选地,混合物进一步包括甲基丙烯酸甲酯和/或其他丙烯酸系单体。一般来说,当混合物包括5-60%重量的甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯、0-60%重量的甲基丙烯酸甲酯和10-80%重量的丙烯酸丁酯时可得到好的结果,当混合物包括18-55%重量的甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯、0-45%重量的甲基丙烯酸甲酯和25-70%重量的丙烯酸丁酯时可得到更好的结果,当混合物包括40-50%重量的甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯、0-15%重量的甲基丙烯酸甲酯和50-60%重量的丙烯酸丁酯时可得到最佳结果,其中%重量基于聚合反应开始前混合物中存在的烯属不饱和单体总量计算。
如上所述,优选的方法是从烯属不饱和单体通过在溶液中的加成聚合制备缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物。聚合反应优选在基本不存在非官能挥发性溶剂(即不与聚合物的固化剂反应的溶剂)下进行。
另一方面,可以存在少部分,例如占聚合反应混合物的10-20%重量,与反应性稀释剂可溶混的非官能挥发性溶剂。一些或全部单体可预先溶解在反应性稀释剂中,但优选单体与自由基引发剂和任何所用的链转移剂一起逐渐加入到稀释剂中。例如,反应性稀释剂可以加热到50-200℃,且单体、引发剂和链转移剂在至多12小时内加入,优选在4小时内,而溶液温度在添加过程中保持恒定并且在加入后再保持0.5-4小时。在这段额外时间内可以加入更多引发剂以降低未反应单体的量。但是,通过从反应混合物中蒸除未反应单体以降低该量也是可能的。
自由基引发剂例如可以是过氧化物或过氧化酯如过氧化苯甲酰、过氧化二叔丁基、过氧化-3,5,5-三甲基己酸叔丁基酯、2,5-二(2-乙基己酰基-过氧化)-2,5-二甲基己烷或过辛酸叔丁基酯或偶氮化合物如偶氮二异丁腈或偶氮-二(2-甲基丁腈)。
在聚合反应过程中可存在链转移剂,如十二烷基硫醇,丁基硫醇,四(巯基丙酸)季戊四醇酯,巯丙基三甲氧基硅烷,或亚磷酸二丁基酯。为维持合适的粘度,优选控制引发剂和链转移剂(如果存在)的含量以使生产的聚合物数均分子量Mn不超过10,000,优选在600-5000范围内,最优选在1000-3000范围内。但是,尽管需要加入较多单体化合物和/或溶剂以达到施用粘度,但也可使用分子量大于1,000的聚合物得到合适的组合物。例如,当没有使用链转移剂时所用自由基引发剂的量(基于单体的重量)通常至少为1%,优选2-10%,或者可以将1-5%引发剂与1-10%链转移剂混合使用。
本发明涂料组合物也包括硬化剂或固化剂。在可固化聚合物组合物中存在的固化剂通常可以是任何能在给定固化条件下有效交联存在于烯属不饱和聚合物和/或反应性稀释剂中的官能团的固化剂。固化剂例如可以是硫醇官能的或氨基官能的。固化剂优选是选自脂族胺、脂族胺加合物、聚酰胺型胺、环脂族胺和环脂族胺加合物、芳族胺、曼尼希碱和酮亚胺总类的胺,这些胺各自可以全部或部分被通式Y-Si-(O-X)3的氨基硅烷取代,其中Y为H(HNR)a,a为1到6的整数,每个R为独立地选自芳基、烷基,二烷基芳基、烷氧基烷基和环烷基的双官能有机基团,并且R可以随每个Y分子而变化。每个X基团可以相同或不同,并且局限于含有低于约六个碳原子的烷基、羟烷基、烷氧基烷基和羟基烷氧基烷基。
优选的氨基硅烷例如是3-氨基乙基三乙氧基硅烷,3-氨基丙基三乙氧基硅烷,N-苯基氨丙基三甲氧基硅烷,三甲氧基甲硅烷基丙基二亚乙基三胺,3-(3-氨基苯氧基)丙基三甲氧基硅烷,氨基乙基氨基甲基苯基三甲氧基硅烷,2-氨基乙基3-氨基丙基三(2-乙基己氧基)硅烷,N-氨基己基氨丙基三甲氧基硅烷,和三氨基丙基三甲氧基乙氧基硅烷,或其混合物。
但是,固化剂也可以包含巯基硅烷,聚胺,或聚硫醇。
在优选的实施方案中,涂料组合物包括45-75%重量的聚硅氧烷、20-45%重量的缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物和4-11%重量的硬化剂。包括60-70%重量的聚硅氧烷、20-30%重量的缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物和7-11%重量的硬化剂的涂料组合物具有最佳结果。%重量基于涂料组合物重量计算。
任选地,本发明涂料组合物包括如下通式的低分子量烷氧基硅烷
其中R3选自含有至多六个碳原子的烷基和环烷基以及含有至多十个碳原子的芳基。R4独立地选自含有至多六个碳原子的烷基、羟烷基、烷氧基烷基和羟基烷氧基烷基。R5独立地选自含有至多六个碳原子的烷基、烷氧基、羟烷基、烷氧基烷基和羟基烷氧基烷基。可以用于涂料组合物中的上式所示低分子量烷氧基硅烷的实例是二甲氧基二苯基硅烷。
本发明涂料组合物可含有用作Si-O-Si缩合的催化剂的化合物。一般来说,即使没有这种催化剂,涂料在室温和环境湿度条件下在2-20小时内也能固化为不粘的涂层,但优选使用催化剂以更快固化。
用于Si-O-Si缩合的催化剂的一个实例是烷氧基钛化合物,例如钛螯合物如二(乙酰丙酮)合钛二醇盐,如二(乙酰丙酮)合钛二异丙醇盐,二(乙酰乙酸酯)合钛二醇盐,如二(乙酰乙酸乙酯)合钛二异丙醇盐,或钛酸链烷醇胺盐,如二(三乙醇胺)合钛二异丙醇盐,或不是螯合物的烷氧基钛化合物如钛酸四异丙酯或钛酸四丁酯。由于钛的醇盐基团可水解且催化剂可通过Si-O-Ti键连接到固化的硅烷或硅氧烷上,这些钛上键有烷氧基的钛化合物可能不仅仅起催化剂作用。在固化产物上存在这些钛部分在提高热稳定性方面是有利的。钛化合物例如可以使用的量占基料的0.1-5%重量。锆或铝的相应醇盐化合物作为催化剂也是有用的。
另一催化剂是多价金属离子的硝酸盐如硝酸钙,硝酸镁,硝酸铝,硝酸锌,或硝酸锶。已建议硝酸钙作为环氧树脂胺固化的催化剂,但从未建议将其用于硅烷或硅氧烷材料的固化。令人惊奇的是,我们发现当组合物还包含有机胺时,硝酸钙是通过硅烷或硅氧烷的Si-O-Si缩合进行固化的有效催化剂,其中硅烷或硅氧烷含有至少两个通过Si-O-C键与硅键合的烷氧基。硝酸钙优选以其四水合物形式使用,但其他水合形式也可使用。需要使用的硝酸钙催化剂的量一般不超过基料的3%重量,如0.05-3%重量。利用硝酸钙催化剂固化的涂层尤其能耐太阳光照射后的泛黄现象。
合适催化剂的另一实例是有机锡化合物,如二羧酸二烷基锡如二月桂酸二丁基锡或二乙酸二丁基锡。这种有机锡催化剂例如可以占涂料组合物基料的0.05-3%重量。
在本发明涂料组合物中可有效用作催化剂的其他化合物有有机盐类,如铋的羧酸盐,例如三新癸酸铋。有机盐和/或其他金属如锌、铝、锆、锡、钙、钴或锶的螯合物,如乙酰丙酮合锆、乙酸锌、乙酰丙酮合锌、辛酸锌、辛酸亚锡、草酸亚锡、乙酰丙酮合钙、乙酸钙、2-乙基己酸钙、环烷酸钴、十二烷基苯磺酸钙或乙酸铝,作为催化剂也有效。
本发明涂料组合物可以含有一种或多种其他成分。它们可以包含例如一种或多种颜料,例如二氧化钛(白色颜料),有色颜料如黄色或红色氧化铁或酞菁颜料和/或一种或多种增强颜料如云母氧化铁或结晶二氧化硅和/或一种或多种防腐颜料如金属锌,磷酸锌,硅灰石或铬酸盐,钼酸盐或膦酸酯和/或填充颜料如重晶石,滑石或碳酸钙。组合物可以包括增稠剂如细粒径二氧化硅,膨润土,氢化蓖麻油或聚酰胺蜡。组合物也可以包括增塑剂,颜料分散剂,稳定剂,助流剂或稀释溶剂。
本发明涂料组合物通常在室温下固化,如5-30℃,因此适用于热固化不现实的大型结构体。本发明涂料组合物也可在高温下固化,以加速固化,如30-50℃到100℃或130℃。键于硅的烷氧基水解取决于水分的存在;在几乎所有气候中大气水分是足够的,但当在高温或非常低的湿度(沙漠)地区固化时需向涂料中添加受控量的水。水优选被包裹而与任何含有键于硅的烷氧基的化合物或聚合物分开。
本发明涂料组合物通常可用作罩面涂层和/或底涂层。含有较高比例的聚硅氧烷的涂料组合物具有在大气老化和UV照射下保持很好的高光泽度。它们尤其适于涂敷在再涂之前长期暴露于大气,如阳光中的基体。如果涂料组合物包括如二甲苯的有机溶剂(稀释剂),则可得到最高级的光泽度,但本发明涂料组合物中溶剂的使用一般不是必须的,这些组合物可以是100%固体涂料而含有非常低可测量的挥发性有机物。涂料组合物可以包含醇,如乙醇或丁醇,醇优选被烷氧基甲硅烷基官能组分包裹,以延长罐装期和控制最初固化速度。本发明罩面涂料可以在不同底涂层上使用,如无机硅酸锌或有机富锌硅酸盐底漆和包含锌金属、防锈金属薄片或隔离颜料的有机底涂层,如环氧树脂底涂层。本发明涂料组合物尤其对无机硅酸锌涂层有很好粘附性而不需中间衔接层或流平罩光涂层。本发明的一种罩面涂料组合物也可以直接施用于铝或锌“金属喷涂”涂层上,在这种情况下该涂料作为密封剂和面层,或施用于镀锌钢、不锈钢、铝或塑料表面如玻璃纤维增强的聚酯或聚酯凝胶涂层上。涂料组合物例如可以用作建筑物、钢结构体、汽车、航空器和其他交通工具以及一般工厂机器和设备的罩面涂料。罩面涂料可以是着色的或者是透明(未着色)的涂料,尤其是在汽车或游艇上。涂料组合物可以直接用于精制碳钢上作为底涂层/罩面涂层。
本发明涂料组合物也可用作保护性底层涂料,尤其在钢表面,例如桥梁、管道、工厂厂房或建筑物,油气装置,或船舶上。对于这种用途通常用防腐颜料着色。例如可以用锌粉着色;本发明涂料与已知硅酸锌涂料有类似的防腐性能但不易产生大龟裂并且可以轻易罩面涂敷,尤其用聚硅烷罩面涂层涂敷,如根据本发明的罩面涂层。本发明的底层涂料组合物可作为维护和修复涂料用于不完好表面如老化喷砂钢和“姜黄色钢(ginger)”(已喷砂并已开始以小斑点生锈的钢)、手工制备的(hand-prepared)已风化钢和老化涂层。
由本发明的组合物生产的涂层除了有优异的耐UV老化性外,还具有良好的柔性和与大多数表面的粘附性并且比大多数有机涂料有更高耐热性(高达150℃并且通常高达200℃)。
参考下列实施例可进一步解释本发明。这些实施例用来说明本发明但决不意味着对本发明范围的限制。
在实施例中,pbw为重量份数。
实施例
实施例1(聚合物制备)
丙烯酸系聚合物在反应器中制备,该反应器装有机械搅拌器、氮气入口管、温度控制器、回流冷凝器和反应过程中添加试剂的入口管。将聚硅氧烷(Dow Corning DC 3074)加入到反应器中并在氮气中搅拌加热到140℃。丙烯酸丁酯、甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯、甲基丙烯酸甲酯和引发剂(过氧化二叔丁基=Trigonox B)的混合物在4小时内加入。添加结束后,温度在140℃下维持2小时。然后产物在从反应器出料前先冷却。所得产物粘度在25℃下利用配有6号圆锥的Brookfield 1000 CAP粘度仪测量。配方细节及其性能列于表1。
实施例2(聚合物制备)
丙烯酸系聚合物利用实施例1的方法制备,反应在150℃下进行。配方细节及其性能列于表1。
实施例3-18(聚合物制备)
不同的丙烯酸系聚合物利用实施例1的方法制备。配方细节及其性能列于表1。
实施例19(聚合物制备)
丙烯酸系聚合物利用实施例1的方法制备,反应在114℃下进行。将5重量份二甲苯中的Trigonox 42S用作引发剂。配方细节及其性能列于表1。
实施例20(聚合物制备)
丙烯酸系聚合物利用实施例1的方法制备,反应在85℃下进行。将5重量份二甲苯中的Trigonox 141用作引发剂。配方细节及其性能列于表1。
实施例21(涂料组合物)
涂料组合物用聚合物1通过高速分配器混合聚合物1和颜料(二氧化钛)制备。加入二甲苯以降低混合物粘度到10泊以下。加入固化剂(3-氨基丙基三乙氧基硅烷)和催化剂(二乙酸二丁基锡)并且混合物在涂到测试板前用手搅拌。配制涂料组合物的细节及其粘度特性列于表2。
实施例22(涂料组合物)
涂料组合物用聚合物2通过高速分配器混合聚合物2与二氧化钛制备。加入二甲苯以降低混合物粘度到10泊以下。加入固化剂(3-氨基丙基三乙氧基硅烷)和催化剂(新癸酸铋)并且混合物在涂到测试板前用手搅拌。配制涂料组合物的细节及其粘度特性列于表2。

利用聚合物3-18,根据实施例21的程序制备涂料组合物。配制涂料组合物的细节及其粘度特性列于表2。
一些试验板在加速试验条件下用UV-A或UV-B射线辐照。UV-A辐照200天后,它们的保光性大约为90%。这与基于聚硅氧烷配方的现有保护性涂料的状况相比是很大进步。
UV-B辐照200天后,试验板保光性大约为40%。这与基于聚硅氧烷配方的现有保护性涂料的状况相比也是很大进步,而后者在UV-B辐照该段时间后保光性远低于10%。

Claims (9)
1.室温固化的涂料组合物,包括:
-45-75%重量的下式的聚硅氧烷
其中每个R1独立地选自至多六个碳原子的烷基、芳基和烷氧基,反应性缩水甘油氧基和OSi(OR3)3基团,其中每个R3独立地具有与R1相同的含义,每个R2选自氢和至多六个碳原子的烷基和芳基,其中n值经选择使聚硅氧烷分子量在500到2000的范围内,
-20-45%重量的缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物,
-常规量的硬化剂,所述涂料组合物的固含量大于70%重量。
2.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其特征在于缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物通过在聚硅氧烷中聚合得到。
3.根据权利要求2的涂料组合物,其特征在于聚硅氧烷是烷氧基甲硅烷基官能的聚硅氧烷。
4.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其特征在于缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物通过聚合包含甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯和丙烯酸丁酯的混合物得到。
5.根据权利要求4的涂料组合物,其特征在于该混合物还包含甲基丙烯酸甲酯。
6.根据权利要求5的涂料组合物,其特征在于该混合物包含15-75%重量甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯,0-60%重量甲基丙烯酸甲酯和30-85%重量丙烯酸丁酯。
7.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其特征在于该组合物包含60-70%重量聚硅氧烷,20-30%重量缩水甘油基官能的丙烯酸系聚合物,7-11%重量硬化剂,%重量基于涂料组合物重量进行计算。
8.根据前面任一权利要求的涂料组合物作为保护性涂料的用途。
9.根据权利要求1-7中任一项的涂料组合物室温涂敷大型结构体如船舶、桥梁、建筑物、工厂厂房或油井架的用途。
