This study has investigated the class wise trend of dropout in Government Girls Primary Schools in District Mardan, analyzed the reasons of the dropout trend and determined a strategy for minimizing the dropout trend. The research was conducted by using systems analysis as theoretical framework of this study. Population for the study consisted of all the10324dropouts. A stratified random sample of 300dropouts was drawn out of total population. Survey and questionnaires were used as tools for collecting data. Data regarding enrolment, dropouts and dropout rate was collected through survey. The researcher administered a self assessment Questionnaire on sampled dropouts to gather their perceptions regarding the dropout phenomenon in Government Girls Primary Schools in District Mardan. The study found the highest dropout rate(15.98%) in Kachhi which gradually falls down in class 2.But in class 3 it jumps to(8.64%) and then it keeps on increasing up to class 5. The perceptual analysis of the responses of the Questionnaires revealed that the factors were divided into three main categories i.e. the institutional problems and procedures:

The aim of this research is to find the impact of working capital management on firms’ profitability. The data of the thirty companies listed in KSE was taken as a sample from two sectors  cement and foods for the period of 2007 to 2011.The profitability is measured through two variables; Return on Assets and Return on Equity, while the independent variables are Average  collection period, Inventory turnover in days and Current Ratio. Regression and Correlation analysis was employed. The result shows that there is positive and significant relation between profitability
and current ratio and Average collection period while negative and insignificant relation between profitability and inventory turnover in days.

In recent years orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and code division multiple access (CDMA) systems have gained considerable attention due to their use in high speed wireless communication. Both OFDM and CDMA have distinguishing features, for example, the former is almost completely immune to multipath fading effects, and the later has multi-user capability. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-code division multiple access

Sol-gel silica was doped with N,N-(dipropylcarbamothioyl) thiophene-2-carboxamide to investigate the sorption of cadmium (Cd) ions from aqueous media. In doped sol-gel silica, the large reagent molecules entrap into pores, whereas, small metal ions diffuse into pores where they make complex with doped reagent. This complexation can be accomplished by either ion exchange or chelation. Doped sol-gel sorbent was applied for

ABSTRACT Speaking in realistic sense a stem cell is endowed with potentials only, which are options rather than specific gene-expression patterns, thereby making its identification vague. Their characterization thus necessitates an overall genomic and proteomic analysis, coupled with mathematical modeling providing for the need for a wide range of bioinformatics tools to efficiently and effectively process large amounts of data being generated. A large number of computational tools and bioinformatic methods are thus required to deal with the experimental riches of this complex and multivariate data and the subsequent transition from data collection to information or knowledge in order to arrive at a universal definition of stemness.

A 56 years old man presented with epigastric pain and abdominal distension. He suffered an attack of acute pancreatitis 6 weeks back followed by pseudopancreatic cyst formation. As the cyst kept on enlarging in size despite being on conservative management, the patient was operated after 5 weeks. A huge pancreatic pseudocyst was found containing about 4.5 liters of fluid. Cystogastrostomy was performed and the patient recovered un-eventfully. It was the third largest pancreatic pseudocyst reported so far.

To study the prevalence and correlates of depression in pregnant women of different cultures. We used a score of 13 or greater on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) to indicate depression status and logistic regression to determine its correlates in pregnant women from Northern Pakistan (n=128), Caucasian (n=128) and Aboriginal (n=128) women from Saskatchewan, Canada. A higher proportion of Pakistani women (48.4%) had depression compared to their Aboriginal (31.2%) and Caucasian (8.6%) counterparts. Depression was associated with poor physical health in all women; however, there were unique correlates of antenatal depression in each group: physical abuse in Pakistani women (AOR=4.40:95% CI, 1.15-16.85), sexual abuse in Aboriginal women (AOR=3.02:95% CI, 1.09-8.40), and low income in Caucasian women (AOR=5.74:95% CI, 1.04-31.78). Depression is a substantial public health problem among pregnant women, with women in Pakistan having a much higher burden of antenatal depression than their Canadian counterparts.

Major drawback of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is its high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) that exhibits inter modulation noise when the signal has to be amplified with a non linear high power amplifier (HPA). This paper proposes an efficient PAPR reduction technique by taking the benefit of the classification capability of Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) network. The symbols are classified in different classes and are multiplied by different phase sequences; to achieve minimum PAPR before they are transmitted. By this technique a significant reduction in number of computations is achieved.

ABSTRACT Grid computing enables sharing, selection and aggregation of computing resources for solving complex and large-scale scientific problems. Grid scheduling is playing a vital role for the efficient and effective execution of jobs on computational grids. Most of the scheduling algorithms do not consider user and system objectives at the same time. Therefore, in this paper we introduce a concept of fairness to scheduling and present a new agent based job scheduling algorithm called Agent based Prioritized Dynamic Round Robin (APDRR). APDRR is designed and developed by combining the best features of round robin and priority job scheduling algorithm using agent technology. APDRR is fair scheduling algorithm from a user point of view while also regarding the optimization criteria that are anticipated from the system perspective. This paper also presents the comparative performance analysis of our proposed APDRR along with other well known job scheduling algorithms, considering the performance metrics comprised of average waiting time, average turnaround time, average response time, total completion time, average bounded slowdown time and maximum job stretch time. Performance evaluation of job scheduling algorithms has been carried out on a computational grid using real workload traces. Experimental evaluation confirmed that the proposed APDRR scheduling algorithm posses a high degree of optimality in performance, efficiency and scalability. This paper also includes a statistical analysis of real workload traces to present the nature and behavior of jobs

Clinafloxacin dithiocarbamate (CNND) was radiolabeled with technetium-99m ((99m)Tc) using [(99m)Tc(CO)3(H2O)3](+) and assessed for its radiochemical stability in saline and serum, its in vitro binding with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and biodistribution in female nude mice (FNM) artificially infected with live and heat-killed MRSA. In normal saline (NS) the (99m)Tc(CO)3-clinafloxacin dithiocarbamate ((99m)Tc(CO)3-CNND) showed radiochemical stability with a maximum value of 99.10 ± 0.20% and remained stable up to 4 h (92.65 ± 0.18%). In human serum at 37°C within 16 h of incubation, 14.85% side products as a result of de-tagging developed. Incubation with MRSA gave saturated binding with a maximum value of 72.75 ± 1.20%. Almost six-fold higher uptake was seen in the infected muscle of the FNM as compared to the inflamed and normal muscle. The (99m)Tc(CO)3-CNND complex showed a normal route of excretion from the body of the FNM model. The higher stability in NS,...

Previous studies in the western world have reported the possible association of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with anxiety and cardiovascular diseases. However, the data from developing countries such as Pakistan remains scarce in this regard. The main aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) patients who are at high risk of OSA and to determine the association between the risk of OSA and levels of anxiety. The sample population consisted of 400 participants including 200 patients, who had been previously diagnosed with CAD, and 200 healthy controls. The 200 CAD patients were approached for inclusion in the study on their follow-ups after their acute symptoms had subsided. The patients were interviewed after a mean time period of 13 weeks post event. All patients with lung disease or respiratory infection were excluded from the study. The risk of OSA was determined using Berlin questionnaire, while the levels of anxiety were measured by Beck anxiety inventory scale (BAI). More than half (n = 104) of the CAD patients were at high risk of OSA while majority (n = 168) of the healthy controls were at low risk. The high risk of OSA was significantly…
