Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Protein kodiran ovim genom je član porodice protein tirozin-fosfataza (PTP). Poznato je da su PTP-ovi signalne molekule koji reguliraju različite ćelijske procese, uključujući ćelijski rast, diferencijaciju, miozni ciklus i onkogenu transformaciju. Ovaj gen se prvenstveno eksprimira u različitim hematopoetskim ćelijama i predstavlja gen ranog odgovora u ćelijama stimuliranim limfokinom. Nekatalitski N-kraj[ ovog PTP-a može stupiti u interakciju s MAP kinazama i potisnuti njihovu aktivnost. Pokazalo se da je ovaj PTP uključen u regulaciju signalizacije receptora antigena T-ćelija (TCR), za koju se smatralo da funkcioniše kroz defosforilaciju molekula povezanih sa putevima MAP kinaze. Za ovaj gen su pronađene dvije alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta koje kodiraju različite izoforme.[6]
