BULLOCH GA, Ga. (WTOC) - Front yards look more like ponds as Debby’s heavy rainfall leads to unprecedented flooding in Bulloch County.

”I never thought this would happen to me,” said Nelson Burnsed, Bulloch County resident.

Nelson Burnsed has lived in his home for 30 years. A home he says is now ruined.

“Basically needs to be tore down and started over,” said Burnsed.

Seeing his family’s home for decades stripped away is an experience he will never forget.

“All my chairs, all my blue chairs I just bought, that’s gone now,” said Burnsed. “It’s devastating. It’s actually devastating. It’s a hard pill to swallow.”

Two homes down, a similar story being told. Flooding drifting people’s belongings across the road.

”We’ve got our neighbors lawn furniture and they have ours. We’ve got their firewood and the next neighbor has what we had,” said Marion Hulsey, Bulloch County resident.

Marion Hulsey estimating that about 6-12 inches of water filled his home leaving furniture and floors ruined.

“We rolled up towels and put them at the base of the doors and in spite of all that the water just continued,” said Hulsey.

Both men say it could’ve been worse and they’re ready to start rebuilding.

“We’re just going to do the best we can do with what we’ve got to work with. And we’ll do all we can do,” said Burnsed.
