LONG COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - While many are just now seeing flooding at their homes, many are already facing the aftermath. WTOC went back to Long County today where a family says they’ve lost everything.

What looks like a normal house on the outside, has been destroyed by floodwaters after tropical storm Debby made its way through Long County.

“We were trying to put stuff up high,” said resident Yeimarie Sobrado.

Yeimarie Sobrado has lived in the Crawford Subdivision for six years. But now, she’s forced to find somewhere else to go. It’s a feeling she said she can’t shake.

“A lot of anxiety because you’re like you work so hard for everything. We got sandbags, I even put water inside the trashcan to see if I could lower the water in the garage,” said Sobrado.

Her family of six is now picking up the pieces of the place they once called home.

“We would put the projectors out there and watch movies and stuff,” said Sobrado

She said Tuesday is when everything changed for them. What started as flooding in their garage, moved to the entire house. Taking nearly everything underwater. She’s hoping her community, and everyone that’s been impacted, can get the resources and help they need.

“This is a disaster, this should be declared a federal disaster,” said Sobrado.

She says the help from her community is what’s keeping them afloat.

“It’s very much appreciated. If I haven’t said thank you to them, at least if they see this, they’ll see that we are very grateful for the help,” said Sobrado.

Lingering effects of Debby will be most likely felt for weeks and for other families like Sobrado, help can’t come soon enough.

To recover from flood damage they have created a GoFundMe to help the cost:
