The bodacious body blitz
Get ready to flex and unleash your knowledge of the human
body!
• Split into 4 teams.
• There are 4 body parts: Head, Hands, Legs, and Eyes. Each one has some action
words next to it.
• When the timer starts, your team needs to think of as many other things that
body part can do.
• Try to make some sentences that use more than one action for each body part.
Be creative! The more creative, the more points!
For example, instead of just “see" a bonus point could be awarded for "Read a
captivating novel while simultaneously enjoying a steaming cup of cocoa.”
• When the timer stops, each team shares their list. You get points for each
correct action, and bonus points for the creative sentences. The team with the
most points wins.

My body takes in oxygen, water, dry food, and
chemical energy.
My body takes out carbon dioxide, sweat,
breath, urine, feces, and heat.
Energy metabolism is the process producing of (1) ____________ and using
(2) ____________
energy in your body.
Whether you are awake or sleeping, playing sports, or taking a rest, energy is being
transformed inside your cells. You need the energy to do some basic body (3)
functions such as:
____________
● building and fixing your cells ● using yourbrain(4)
____________ blood
● pumping (5) ____________ around your body ● moving your
muscles breaking
● keeping your body temperature constant ● making hormones
and enzymes lungs
● (6) ____________ down food healthy
Complicated chemicals in your body break down into smaller pieces, and your body gets
moving
rid of the leftover waste. Your body does this through your skin, kidneys, (7)
_________,dietand intestines to keep your body clean and (8) ____________. To boost
your energy metabolism, you need to take care of your mental and physical health, such
Suggested answers
building and fixing your cells: When you get a cut, your body uses energy to create new skin cells to
heal the wound. This is an example of how energy is used to build and repair cells.
using your brain: When you are studying for a test, your brain is working hard. It uses energy to process
information and create memories.
pumping blood around your body: Your heart is a muscle that works all the time to pump blood around
your body.
moving your muscles: When you lift a heavy object or run, your muscles are working. They need energy
to contract and relax.
keeping your body temperature constant: Your body works hard to keep your temperature constant.
When it’s cold, you shiver to generate heat. When it’s hot, you sweat to cool down.
making hormones and enzymes: Your body makes hormones and enzymes to control different
processes. For example, insulin is a hormone that helps control your blood sugar levels. Your body uses
energy to make these hormones and enzymes.
breaking down food: When you eat food, your body has to break it down into nutrients that it can use.
This process uses energy. The nutrients are then used to provide energy for all the other processes in
your body.
They are walking along the
beach. They use the energy
to make their muscles
moving, so that they can
walk and smile to each other.
The weather seems so cold.
Their bodies work hard to
keep the temperature
constant.
They are eating. When they
eat food, their bodies have to
break it down into nutrients
that they can use. This
process uses energy. The
nutrients are then used to
provide energy for all the
other processes in the bodies.
The girl broke her leg.
Her body uses energy
to create new skin cells
to heal the wound.
This is an how energy
is used to build and
repair cells.
He is doing gymnastics.
He uses the energy to
lift the weight, which
makes his muscles
move up and down.

builder and destroyer
How to play?
• Divide the class into 4 teams. Teams take out 2 pieces of paper: 1 for BODY
BUILDER and 1 for BODY DESTROYER.
• Each team gathers around and starts brainstorming. Students try to list out as
many “Body Builder” (things and activities that are good for the body) and “Body
Destroyer” (things and activities that are not good for the body) as possible in 5
minutes.
• Afterward, teams can present their lists, explaining their choices and highlighting
the most interesting or impactful items.
• After rounds, tally the points for each team. The team that has the most points is
builder and destroyer
Award points
