October 20. U.S. forces land in leyte.
The Philippines commonwealth
government re- stablished.
1945 February 3 – March 3. The liberation
of Manila from the Japanese kills
more than 100,000 residents.
September 2, Japanese forces
surrender to Filipino and American
forces.
