Why Is The Alchemist Important
An excerpt from the bible; For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also (Luke 12:34)
shows that your heart is there for you to make choices in order of finding what you value most.
Not everyone is able to find the significance in searching for treasure in life, however. Whether it
may be striving to find your true values, or having to chose between two of your favorite things in
order to move forward in life, not everything comes easy. Obstacles are placed in front of everyone
s path until they re able to find their treasure. Finding your treasure isn t possible if you don t follow
your heart. This was true, of course for the main character, Santiago, from The Alchemist by Paulo
Coelho. With the enlightenment and strength perceived from other figures in the book, Santiago
learns that with a heart full and determination, he could also find the treasure of a Personal Legend.
Through Santiago s decisions, The Alchemist examines the significance of following your heart. The
importance included within following your heart is found in the story when Santiago follows his
Personal Legend that he was bound to achieve after awakening from a dream that convinced him to
journey through the desert. An example of great remedy given by the king has him explain that A
mysterious force will begin to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realize their
Personal Legend (Coelho 21). When the words were first spoken to Santiago, he had but no clue of

Jennifer Lopez Accomplishments
It was the first time that Jennifer Lopez hosted the American Music Awards and as she did, the 46
year old star simply nailed it. The actress impressed everyone not just with her stint but by wearing
a jaw dropping 10 outfits. According to People, the author first donned a customized, multicolor,
tribal print DSquared2 bodysuit stitched with sequins and rhinestones topped a fur coat. She wore
the said ensemble while she performed her 1999 hit, Waiting for Tonight followed by 2015 biggest
chart toppers.
After that, the fashion designer came out with and did her hosting job with a very much demure
look. She was wearing a knee length fuchsia pink ombré gown made by Michael Cinco detailed with

The Separation Surgery On Conjoined Twins
I would usually read books like this, but I would like to mention how interesting it was while
reading. One of Us has valuable information and stories of conjoined twins, not only in the United
States but all around the world. I found it interesting how the author uses medical term and
quantitative data to identify the different types of twin and how many are there. I did not know
there were so many different types of conjoined twin, and where they are attached or infused. Alice
Dreger purpose of this book is analyzing case studies both past and present, along with questions and
assumptions about anatomy and normality, and transforms our understanding of how we are all
intricately and inextricably joined. She also explored the separation surgery on conjoined twins.
Providing historical and contemporary evidence that most adults conjoined twins do not desire to be
separated, and that many operations are carried out on children too young, by individualizing them at
all cost which may result in a tragic event.
Most children born with challenging anatomies have their bodies changed because of what
physicians were forcing parents to believe there is no hope fundamentally. One of Us views
conjoined twins, as people living with unique anatomies, and considers these issues within the larger
historical context of anatomical politics. In the book, it spoke about a few conjoined twins that were
exploited by putting them on display and numerous exhibitions. Chang and Eng Bunker
Rae Swent s The Red River Campaign
The historical play, The Red River Campaign written by Rae Swent was about ten thousand Union
soldiers invading a vulnerable Alexandria, Louisiana. The play s narrative was from the point of
view of Union generals, Confederate generals, and a teenage boy, who questions his father about
the Civil War. Duncan Graham, played by Ray Pence, begins asking his father, George Mason
Graham, about the Union occupation in Alexandria during the Civil War. While, there is the
presences of an adolescent son, the only other characters are older and middle aged men. The play
is the history of the Red River campaign and written from those who planned its strategy, but the lack
of diversity in gender, age, and characters that were not soliders made the production stale. Also,
Duncan and George Graham speaking to one another directly, and all the other characters directly
address the audience makes the narrative inconsistent and at times hard to understand. While the
audience might understand that Nathaniel Banks led the Union s army and David Dixon Porter led
the Union s naval fleet but the awkward narrative made it hard to understand details like battle plans
and battle locations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play s purpose was to educate the audience of Louisiana s historical battle site Tyrone Plantation,
and raise funds for its upkeep. The evening was through reservations only, and was twenty five
dollars for admission. Not terrible pricing for a charity dinner theater, but the play s production had
low quality acting and awkward staging, despite the theme being an interesting idea. Staging was
limited and held on the third floor of the Plantation, however illuminating the actors under the
Antebellum chandelier against the polished silver really set the
Wild Man Monologue
Adam promised everything to Mia. He would do whatever she wanted, only if she came back to
him. After a car crash that killed Mia parents and little brother, Teddy, it left Mia in a in between
state as she watch doctors work on her coma ridden body. There she went in flashes from old
memories with Adam, to the current day, watching her family and friends cry over her sleeping
body. For Adam though, all he knew was his girl was lying on the bed, close to a peaceful death, one
that he wanted her to stay away from. If you stay, I ll do whatever you want. I ll quite the band, go
with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I ll do that, too. Maybe coming back to your
old life would just be too painful, maybe it d be easier for you to... Show more content on

For that, Adam did not care. He started staying in different hotels, doing separate interviews, even
taking separate flights. Bryn, Adan s girlfriend, told him he could make it solo, but does he really
want to make it at all? He had everything he always dream of, and now he s chanting away the
nights of the tour, rattling his pills in his pocket, forcing himself out of bed each day, for a life he
would have done anything for. That s why on the eve of their European tour, the band flew out
that day, and Adam was flying out of JFK the next day, leaving himself a whole day in New York
City alone. By luck or fate Adam found him outside Carnegie Hall with the performance that night
was Mia Hall on cello. By more fate and luck, Mia finds Adam in the crowed and ask him to meet
her backstage. Standing there, face to face, leave Adam with all the anger, sadness and love he felt
for Mia, rushing back to him as memoires and present day conversations. With both their flights
leaving tomorrow, Adam has that one night to understand why Mia stayed, and then left
Prophetic Vision in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Essay
Prophetic Vision in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
In the First Book of The Faerie Queene, Edmund Spenser reveals his prophetic and apocalyptic
vision for the fledgling British Empire, personified in his hero Redcrosse. As the secular instrument
of Gloriana, the Faerie Queene, Redcrosse takes on the sacred task of Una (representing religious
truth) to free her parents, Adam and Eve, from their bonds of sin. Before he can achieve his task, the
Redcrosse knight (representing holiness) must mature as a Christian knight as he and Una encounter
inhabitants of Faerie Land and interact with them. With his allegory, Spenser unveils the secular and
sacred obligations of Queen Elizabeth and her courtiers as they lead Protestant England and ... Show

After Redcrosse strangles religious Error at Una s urging and kills the monster with his sword,
Spenser separates Redcrosse and Una by way of Archimago s wicked machinations. Una cycles
through a sequence of traveling companions: a lion, Archimago as false Redcrosse (the Roman
Catholic Church), Sans Loy (a Muslim), satyrs, Satyrane, and Prince Arthur. Spenser implies that
participants of each religion, no matter how primitive, believe its truths are divine. In her latest
incarnation of supreme religious truth, Una needs Gloriana s knight to defeat the dragon of sin, to
obtain Christ s redemption for Adam and Eve and their descendants. While England amasses vast
wealth conquering and colonizing the primitive races, the real battle is not against flesh and blood,
but as Paul stated in his letter to the Ephesians, against principalities (Saracens), powers (Lucifera),
rulers of darkness (Error and Despair) and spiritual wickedness in high places (mythological or
primitive gods demons).
When Redcrosse finally attains sufficient holiness to fight the old serpent (the dragon Satan) of
Revelations, Contemplation takes him to look on the New Jerusalem. Like Jesus, Redcrosse is an
historical human being (Saint George). Unlike the imaginary characters of the poem, Redcrosse is
entitled to everlasting life provided his name is written in the book of life, as stated in

(Heller, Steve) Paul Rand was well known to be making use of a wide variety of procedures or
methods such as collage, typography, photography, and painting. He combined the elements to
create visually distinctive modern image from design for magazine cover to a poster or even
corporate logos. At Esquire and Apparel Arts Rand persistently worked as an art director for four
years. During the early forties he created astounding covers for a magazine named Direction where
he worked on Apparel Arts covers using collages employing quasi Dadaist ideas and techniques. By
utilizing a commonplace object to have more than its conventional meaning, Rand actually antedated
the satire of the objet trouvé art movement that arose at least two decades later. ( Art director club )
Each one of the covers shared a common impact which was innovative, ingenious, original and
revolutionary that immensely influenced modern art movement where Rand allied fine arts with
graphics. In the 1940s, Paul Rand integrated Swiss Design style into his work breaking way from
the usual standard layout and typeface. He merged American visual culture into European avant

work. (Reed, Norah) Rand also worked together with copywriter Bill Bernbach for Obach s
My Special Day
Today is my dad s birthday! I know that we are inviting some close friends over to celebrate his
special day, but no one is here at the moment. Because none of my friends have shown up, I begin
to play by myself. I know they are coming but I thought they would be here by now. I am lonely and
I wish someone was here to play with me. As people are filling the yard, I am not recognizing any of
the adults at the party. As of now, I am alone so I take my dog Goldie out to the deepest part of my
backyard.
5:00pm Friday the 6th
As I wonder when the cake will be served, I look back to my house. I continue playing with the sticks
that are in front of me. Since I am by myself, I try to stack the sticks on top of one another. Bored, I
walk through my yard to see if I recognize anyone. I find a huge stick on the ground, which grabs
my attention. I always love clearing out the backyard with sticks so I continue on my way. As I
pick up the stick, I swing it around like a sword. I find the perfect spot to start whacking at the
weeds, until I hear footsteps behind me. Who could that be? I thought Goldie was the only one with
me. I still hear the footsteps.
9:00 pm Friday the 6th
Walking through my back yard, I find the boy who will change my life. I do not recognize this
boy, which means my parents must know his parents. As I look at him, I see that his cloths are
smudged with dirt, and his hair is in standing at a point. He is tall and big for someone who is only
a few years older than

3.Target population or population served at the organization
4.Your role as a volunteer What did you do?
My role as a volunteer was to check in the refugee clients. As a volunteer at Church World Service, I
could not get to be involved with the clients because of confidentiality purposes. But even with
checking them in, I learned that language is very important. Some may not know how to speak
English and if they do it is very little. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have been through a lot. Some things we could not even imagine. And when they come to
America, they are dealing with culture shock. These refugees are not here to destroy America. They
are here because they believe in the American dream. These refugees have been through a lot and just
want to be seen as an American citizen. I think for me the most important thing is to educate
Americans on refugees.
9.What social welfare policy issues do you see affecting the agency now or in the future?
I think a social welfare policy that can become an issue would be public assistance. Church World
Service provides different programs to help the refugees on their path to becoming an American
citizen. Church World Service is funded by government as well as grants. Anything could stop
money from coming in to help these refugees. Public housing is another issue. Landlords want
income history and credit. Things that these people do not have. These could be big issues for this
agency. It is becoming harder and harder for staff at Church World Service to find housing for these
families, especially the bigger

Growing up as a kid in a house of 7 brothers and 2 sisters mama always told us you can never really
thank anyone enough for anything they do for you no matter how little or how big. Sitting back
years later pondering on the importance of showing appreciation... I finally really understood what
she really meant. Before, I came to the point of Enlightenment. I usually weigh whatever someone
does to me and appreciate them in that measure. If I get a little help from you I show minimal
appreciation and if I got a lot of help from you then I show a whole lot of appreciation. I used to
watch mama go extra lengths just to show gratitude... she still thanks a friend 5 years after he lent
her a little helping hand when the chips were down. One day I just muttered to her why mama...
Why do you always show so much appreciation even when someone does a little thing like pick up
your grocery or even holds a door open when you walk through? she stared at me intently and said
