What Are Pool Pockets
Pool Pockets For this problem we were given a modified pool table, in which there are only corner
pockets, no side pockets. We imagine there is a ball starting in the bottom left corner and
shooting at a 45 degree angle and bouncing off the side of the table until it rolls into a hole. The
question that I am trying to answer however is if I can predict how many times the ball will hit a
wall before landing in a pocket and also which pocket it will land in. During this problem a
learned many different things like where the ball would roll and how many rebounds it would take
to roll in a pocket for any given dimension of pool table. I did not however come up with a super
formula for the problem but a did find some pretty interesting rules. One

Internship Orientation and Preparation

The internship orientation was a three day process. The first day was spent with the human resource
department reviewing the employee handbook and completing employment forms. I took a tour of
the office and was introduced to the project managers, estimators, administrative assistants, and
the IT department. I was taken out to lunch by the same managers that interviewed me at the
career fair. The second day was designated for safety. I watched an OSHA video and reviewed the
company s safety manual. Once I completed the video and read through the manual I was able to
receive my PPE. Typically on the second day of the orientation, the safety manager takes the new
employee to visit a jobsite to view safety hazards and proper safety practices. Due to poor weather
conditions, I was unable to attend the safety site visit. On the second day I was scheduled to go to
lunch with the executive team. The third day of orientation

627 Word Short Story
627 Words I was walking down the hallway when it happened... Last year wasn t the greatest time
of my life. My parents found something wrong with me that I had tried so hard to hide. At
school, I would feel it coming and left the classroom to go to the bathroom and let it pass. It got
up to about three times a week. I remember the pain, the isolation, the fear, the feeling that I was
going crazy and that I was going to die. I never knew why I couldn t just be like everyone else,
why the littlest things lit a fuse to a bomb within me. Over and over again. Why me? But it all
stopped by the end of May, and nothing happened the entire Summer. August came, and I entered a
new school as a freshman. After a few weeks, I found my way around school.... Show more content

So, I know you probably hate me. But aye, I promise there s more to me than you know. I saw that

only take a couple minutes. This is seriously all he wanted me for, to proofread some paper? Um,
o kay. Least I could do to thank you... Thanks, by the way. I took the paper from him and began to
read. Oh, it s a short story. My first thought was Oh, he shouldn t have a comma there, but I
decided to keep reading and tell him afterwards. I was about halfway through the story when I
realized that the protagonist described the thoughts that ran through my mind every day, and
water began to flood my eyes. I began to sob as I continued to scan the most relatable words I had
ever read. I dropped my books in shock, and they fell open with a loud boom like walls crashing
down. Aaron saw the torn pages of my blue book, grabbed the tape on the table, and mended each
and every rip. 627 words. It took 627 words to shatter me and my walls, but in turn, they opened me

The Normalization of Rape in the Democratic Republic of...
Ruined by Lynn Nottage is a powerful play that narrates the nearly normalized issue of sexual
violence against women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Nottage personally
traveled to the DRC and interviewed the victimized women and created a play that is based on their
stories. She composed a very powerful play that made its audience to become aware of tragic
situations that take place in African countries today. Throughout the play, Nottage brings the reader
to raise several questions, such as why did these vulnerable women become the target of violence
and what drives militiamen to commit these crimes rather than protecting them.
While war in the DRC already created unpleasant outcomes, such as poverty and corruption, it also
created cruel type of a weapon, humiliation and rape of women beside the guns and bombs. Meger
asserts in her article that the majority of the rape crimes involve gang rapes, with an average of
4.5 attackers per victim, and they also tend to be systematically preplanned (127). Women
depicted in Ruined are examples of rape victims. Salima s story in particular demonstrates how
violent and unforgiving it can be out in there. She was gang raped when she was in her garden
and her attackers even ended up killing her infant. Not only was she brutally assaulted, but also
neglected and abandoned by her husband and the village, which left her nowhere to turn to. Salima
sees Mama Nadi s bar as a place to live, but in an entirely new way of

as an architect in his thirties, and in his fifties he moved to Florenceand began work on his most

In the 1500s, the Medici moved their entire residence to the Palazzo Vecchio and established the
centralization of power of the Palace. It had been the town hall of Florence ever since the people
wanted to make a new seat of power in Florence. It overlooks the Piazza della Signoria and it holds a
copy of Michelangelo s David in a symbol of the city. There are also a plethora of statues
surrounding the building that represent what the city is. The first stone of the building was set
in 1299 and was not finished for nearly thirty years later. The bell tower is the most notable part
of the palace. The tower is a little more than 300 feet tall, which, at that time, was a very
impressive height. It was named for the architect who designed it: Torre d Arnolfo. The three
bells in the bell tower are almost as old as the tower itself. In fact, the original bell is still inside
the tower ringing for town hall meetings and impending danger. A couple of notable fun facts:
First, The Palazzo Vecchio held the prisoner Savonarola before his execution. In 1497, Savonarola
was excommunicated by the Pope and was sentenced to death. He was held inside the Palace so that
he could be executed in the most
