Amalie Emmy Noether Research Paper
Danielle Kemper Amalie Emmy Noether was born on March 23, 1882. She died on April 14,
1935. She was born in Erlangen, Bavaria, Germany. She had three siblings, all of which died but
one, her brother Fritz, who became a mathematician. Her father was also a mathematician. She
wasn t allowed to go to school, so she learned things that women were supposed to know and do,
such as cooking and cleaning. People began to think she was a mathematical genius when she
solved a brain teaser quickly at an early age while she was at a birthday party. Instead of going to
college and learning more math, when she was older, she went to finishing school. There she focused
on learning different languages, specifically English and French. When she completed school,
How Body Commodification Through An Anthropological Lens...
How to Analyze Body Commodification through an Anthropological Lens Iran is the only
country with a regulated market and state sponsored system of financial remuneration for kidney
transplantation (Potter 2015:11.1). I will be using Iran as a basis to study a regulated market and
identify aspects of this state sponsored program which address the question, is Iran supporting an
oppressive system that preys upon the poor or is it an equitable arrangement that enables two
people in need to fulfill a life saving exchange? I am going to be looking at the positives and
negatives of a regulated market and then analyzing these viewpoints through an anthropological
lens. There are many positive aspects to a regulated market which is evidenced by the Iranian
program. For instance, due to the regulated market that permits donor incentives, Iran has
virtually no one on their kidney transplant list (Alesi and Muzi 2015). Since there is not a long
wait, this system of a regulated market spares the recipients the agonizing wait, costly dialysis
and shortened life span associated with kidney transplants seen in other countries (Rosenberg
2015). In comparison, there are over 100,000 people waiting for kidney transplants in America,
and most of those will have to wait between 3 to 10 years for a donor (Rosenberg 2015). These
patients will also have to undergo dialysis, which is not only costly, (approx. $80,000 per year), but
also, the average lifespan of someone who starts
Latino Heritage Month
This past Wednesday, October 12th, I had the opportunity to visit a photo exhibit that was being
displayed at Plaza de la Raza. The photo exhibit was dedicated to those actors and actresses that
have put the Latino talent in Hollywood. The photo exhibit is part of the Hispanic Month, and
from September 1st to October 15th we have forty five glorious days to celebrate it. In Los
Angeles, the Hispanic Month is also being addressed as Latino Heritage Month LA. This is a month
where the people from Los Angeles get together to celebrate their traditions and culture with other
Angelenos along with the people around the world who come to LA during this time as well. My
visit to the photo exhibit was a little bit disappointing, not the photo exhibit... Show more content on

As stated in Pew Research Center, National Heritage Month started in 1968 by congress as a
Hispanic Heritage week, it was expanded to a month in 1988. (Krogstad) Twenty eight years later
we still have this cultural practice that in a sense is an interpretation of the original cultures we
had back at home. It is not called Mexican Heritage Month or Salvadorian Heritage Month. It is
called Hispanic because they put all the Latin American traditions, culture, and countries together
and said this is their month, and they must share it. Although it seems unfair for some people
because they do not like being entered in the whole category as a Hispanic or Latino, we need to
look at the positive side. Since this is how we learn from other people and how we get to know
different smells and flavors. We are being recognized and celebrated by other people as well here in
the United States. Yes, we left back home so many things, but we brought with us one thing more
important than anything; our identity which is the one blending in with other cultures and creating a

ABSTRACT Presented within is a synopsis of the conceptual design, analysis and testing of a
camless engine (CLE) with an electro hydraulic valve train. The system makes use of a piezoelectric
controlled hydraulic actuator. This actuator serves as a replacement for the camshaft in an internal
combustion engine (ICE). In essence, the actuator is an electro hydraulic device capable ... Show

The concept of variable valve timing has existed for some time. Unfortunately, the ability to achieve
truly variable valve timing has eluded automotive manufacturers. Most variable timing mechanisms
were created as tools for the automotive engineer. Their use was limited to the laboratory as a
means of testing multiple, virtual cam profiles. These early camless engines allowed for the
designers to choose the best cams for the engine under scrutiny, but were less than energy efficient.
Furthermore, they were laboratory machines and were not capable of being mass produced or
utilized in an automobile. There have been a few attempts at developing production models of
camless engines, most notably by Ford, but the use of solenoids has impeded their implementation.
Using solenoids to control hydraulic fluid and ultimately the opening and closing of the engine
valves introduces its own limitations. The solenoids consume considerable energy and are a binary
control device they are either on or off. Therefore the hydraulic fluid, controlled

Automobile manufacturers have recognized the compromises associated with

by the solenoids, is either flowing or blocked. This design allows for some variance of valve
timing, but is still limited by the response capabilities of the solenoids. Furthermore, it cannot
directly address valve velocity or displacement changes.

Disadvantages Of Somaclonal Variation
Somaclonal variation However, one of the major problems of many tissue cultured plants is
somaclonal variation. It is the variation originating in cell and tissue cultures (Larkin and
Scowcroft, 1981). The growth of plant cells in vitro and their regeneration into whole plants is an
asexual process which involves only mitotic division of the cell. Therefore, theoretically, it should
not cause any variation. Ideally, it is expected to get clonal multiplication of genetically uniform
plants. However, due to somaclonal variation, uncontrolled and random spontaneous variation
occurs during the culture process. On the other hand, somaclonal variation also has its advantages.
It is useful in crop improvement through creation of novel variants. Induced somaclonal variation
is used for genetic manipulation of crops with polygenic traits (Jain, 2001). It can also be a vital
tool for plant breeding via generation of new varieties. This could exhibit disease resistance,
improvement in quality and give a better yield of the plants. Somaclonal variants may vary from the
source plant permanently or temporarily. Temporary changes result from epigenetic or physiological
effects and are non heritable and reversible but, permanent variants are heritable and often represent
an expression of pre existing variation in the source plant or are due to the de novo... Show more

Insensitivity to mycotoxins produced by plant pathogens can be applied as a marker for the early
screening of segregating populations within conventional and modern breeding programmes in many
host pathogen systems. This technique requires some knowledge about the correlation between
sensitivity to toxins and susceptibility of plants to the pathogens that produce them. Such correlation
need to be highly significant if the expected outcome is to select resistant plants within a long term
breeding program (Hadrami et al.,
The Placebo Response and the Power of Unconscious Healing...
The art and science of medicine is a continuously growing field of knowledge. In spite of the vast
developments that have transpired through the ages in the history of healing, scientists have barely
uncovered everything there is to know about how the healthy body functions and how it reacts to
disease. We cannot assume that what we know now is sufficient to solve our common problems in
health or that in some cases, there is no remedy for yet, unsolved puzzles of incurable disease.
The natural process of healing is something that occurs in all creatures, and it involves various
mechanisms that repair, restore, and preserve the organism as well as ensure that the species
survives and in many cases, propagates. These processes that promote ... Show more content on

Today, pharmaceutical drugs are at the core of our healing rituals. Most physicians rely on scientific
research to understand the pathophysiology of disease and to prescribe necessary treatments. Many
of these evidence based research use randomized placebo controlled trials (RCTs) as the gold
standard to test the efficacy of new treatments and clinical interventions. These clinical trials
compare the effects of active treatment on a group of participants with that of a placebo group,
whereby, neither the doctors nor the patients know what treatment is actually administered to a
participant ( double blinding ). The superior effect of a drug is often believed to be manifested as the
treatment effect, while the unspecific effects of placebo are the additive effects. The problem,
however, with this model is that the placebo effect may occur in both treatment arms and the patients
expectation for improvement with the chance of receiving active treatment may affect the outcome
of treatments. This is exemplified by some studies, which use placebos that mirror the side effects of
drug treatment, thereby increasing the response in this group compared to those of an inert placebo
that does not cause side effects.
The point we are driving at is that all drugs have some placebo effect. This has been

left and right for the characters and what they were going through. There is a lot of mystery and
questioning that will be answered later in the book, but once its done, there are still many
questions being asked. when I look for a book, that is something that stands out to me because I

Juxtaposition In The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas
In the short story The Ones Who Walked Away from Omelas, Ursula Le Guin uses juxtaposition
to display messages and stimulate the readers mind. All attention is drawn to the morality of the
situation, and the rhetorical question what would one do, walk away from Omelas or stay . Le
Guin creates images of both viewpoints of those living in the society by using juxtaposition. This
triggers the question to stay or leave when visualizing the good and the bad that makes up
Omelas. First and foremost, from the start of the story Omelas is described in a positive light,
through words and phrases such as, merry , sparkled , and shimmering of gong and tambourine .
Repetition is used to influence the importance of the positive energy and outlook of Omelas. For
example music and dancing is used multiple times in just the first paragraph demonstrating its
uplifting feel. Also mentioned in the beginning is the view of eighteen peaks burned with white
gold fire across the sunlit air, this symbolizes the heaven like aspect of Omelas and high value of
their society (Le Guin 1). Based off of the first page one can come to the generalization that the city
of Omelas is a utopia. However, in this particular society they need to force their blame, hate and
negativity onto someone else they need a scapegoat. For them to keep this overall greater good and
happiness for everyone, one must suffer. The readers come to this conclusion when they are
introduced to the tortured... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is believed that moral behavior could be shaped by conditioning, it is also found that morality is
learned in stages (What Makes Me tick? 28). Those in Omelas who don t care about the suffering
child are in lower stages of morality. They are only concerned with their own pleasure and are
individualistic. This assembles the connection between those who walk away from Omelas and how
they are in a higher stage of
Essay on The Fight Against Communism
The Fight against Communism Why are people against Communist? J. Edgar Hoover, Sidney
Hook, and William O. Douglas have written articles about their opinion relating to Communist
expanding throughout our Nation. Communism is a social organization based on the ownership
controlled all economic and social activities. J. Edgar Hoover, Sidney Hook, and William O.
Douglas have numerous points of view on Communism. Their voices and minds reveals that
Communist is not who they say they are. J. Edgar Hoover believed the spread of Communism is a
tremendous threat to our nation. Day by day, the number of people enroll in the party s membership

The Communist threat inside the country has been magnified and exalted far beyond its realities
(273). Accusations have been made, irresponsible citizens are spreading fears. Multiples of
suspicions had been made. Innocents are being considered as disloyalty. Suspicion grows until
only the person who loudly proclaims the orthodox view, or who, once having been a
Communist, has been converted, is trustworthy (273). Suspects are those who are unorthodox,
who does not followed military policymakers. The fear has driven citizens to the folds of the
orthodox. The fear was to be investigated, to lose one s job, etc. These fears have driven many
people to sorrow. These fears have effected younger generations. This pattern of orthodoxy that is
shaping our thinking has dangerous implications (274). Douglas believes the great danger if we
become victims of the orthodox school. They can limit our ability to change or alter. Douglas
believes a man s mind must be free. These three remarkable men had left their voices for us to
hear. These voices are ideas to obtain our normal ways of an American s life. Hoover s idea was to
expose what communist was really about. Showing our nation communist is not about freedom. It is
about destroying our way of life. Douglas ways of handling it is with guns and fire and our
intelligence. If our nation can be cautious about orthodox, we will not fall under communism s
hands. These are
Wedding Crashers Stereotypes
Wedding Crashers Wedding Crashers was the return of the R rated adult comedy movie, it was
the sixth biggest grosser in 2005, it is a sex comedy about two men who crash weddings to meet
single woman and deceive them to get them into bed. I believe the movie Wedding Crashers is
against feminism. The two male characters treat women like sex objects to gain their need for
sexual satisfaction. The movie stereotypes women to make them seem like sex objects, disregarding
their personality and intelligence. I think the target audiences are men who are in their late 20s and
early 30s that are successful and enjoy humorous adult comedy. The movie revolves around the two
main characters, John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey. John and Jeremy are... Show more content on

John and Jeremy are doing by crashing these weddings. They do not want to get out of the phase
they were in as adolescence, because they do not want to grow up. Chazz Reingold is the man
who passed on all the rules to being a wedding crasher to John and Jeremy. He is a middle aged
man and still lives with his mother at her house. He rarely crashes weddings anymore because he
has found an unlikely success in meeting girls by crashing funerals. He says grief is nature s
most powerful aphrodisiac , therefore implying he is using the vulnerability of women at
funerals to gain his sexual desires. He is taking advantage of women who are not in the right state
of mind, which is very low in standards because again he is treating them as an ordinary object
disregarding their feelings and intellect. Claire s boyfriend Bradley is the testosterone fueled
person who assaults people but is always dismissed as harmless. He also is a cheating rat who treats

Vascular Disease Research Paper
Educate Yourself With the Vascular Diseases

The vascular system is the network of the blood vessels in our body. It includes the veins, arteries
and capillaries for the blood circulation in the entire body (to and from the heart). And if any issue
occur in the vascular system, then it will cause the disastrous outcomes. As the illustrations, if the
arteries can become thick and stiff, then a problem called atherosclerosis will arise. Or, if it is the
blood clotting, then it will clog the vessels and cease the blood flow to the heart or brain. Or, if the
weakened blood vessels can burst, causing the internal bleeding.
Moreover, if the fatty stuff are built up in the blood vessels, then also the vascular disease can cause

The History Of Parliament System Essay
The History of Parliament System:

The Parliamentary Democratic System was created in the 13th century. Deriving from the word
Parley , it means to meet and discuss, which was used by King Henry and his Noblemen in the
Great Council (Szilagyi, 2009). After a short time the Great Council became the House of
Commons, which includes three forms of government. The forms are the King/Queen, the House
of the Lords , and the House of Commons. The House of Commons is the only part of government
that includes over 1220 people, elected by the eldest people in the country, and has the least amount
of power as opposed to the other parts of government. As you go deeper into how these systems
work you began to realize the evolution of it all.

The Parliamentary System:

When you dive into the research of Parliamentary Systems you obtain unique facts you would have
never thought possible. This system is designed to have two different types of parties; the majority
and the minority. The Majority carries the most power although the minority has the power to
question everything that the majority does. The minority is powerless, but their goal is to provide
constructive criticism to the others for the sake of the country. When the next selection process
comes into place they try to switch their roles. Even though this is true in 2012 Eric Black stated,
Neither of the parties have the power to pass bills and put them into effect . (Black, 2012). Not even
