Conceited Judgment and the Pitfall of Pride
In both of Flannery O Connor s short stories A Good Man is Hard to Find and Good Country
People, there is a central theme about the negative effects of trusting one s own judgment too
readily, as well as using religion to manipulate people. It is easy to see multiple connections to this
theme in the two short stories, although the specific events themselves are different. For instance,
Hulga from Good Country People believes her intelligence allows her to see people s true character,
but she is ultimately left alone full of despair when her faithin herself and her leg is ironically taken
away. In the same way, the unnamed grandmother in A Good Man is Hard to Findfeels her morals
and experience in life allow her to judge other characters without fault. Therefore, the two short
stories are similar to each other because the plots, characters, and misuses of religionreflect the
central theme of trust and manipulation. Although the details of these two stories differ in many
aspects, they share a similar plot that follows a theme about people trusting their own judgments
too easily. In Good Country People, Hulga meets a Bible salesman, Manly Pointer, who seems to
have an innocent aura around him. He bored Mrs. Hopewell, Hulga s mother, but she couldn t be
rude to him. He was just good country people, you know (Good Country 445). However, her
personal view of him is tragically incorrect. Pointer persuades Hulga to go on a date with him,
inviting Hulga out
Essay about Enviornmental Policy processes
Environmental Policy
There s a Snake Eating my Dog!
The environmental stepwise process is a process people take to implement, assess, and interpret
environmental related policies. The first step is to identify the problem, this is rather simple
because there are lots of problems in our day day lives. Next you have to Pinpoint the roots of the
problem, followed by envisioning a solution for these problems. Now, a particular issue could have
multiple causes, and thus multiple solutions. The you will get organized; when it comes to
influencing policy, organizations are usually more successful than individual people are. The next
step is the hardest, To cultivate access and influence. If you have a moving issue, influencing won t

The government tends to look at things based on an economical standpoint that tends to run biased as
they tend to ignore the moral/ethical aspects of the issue at hand. However, citizens and businesses
tend to APPEAR on the same side of the fence because businesses will do anything to give the
customers, or citizens what they want. However, the sad reality is that many businesses Greenwash
their products into seeming more environmentally friendly.
In our everglades and the surrounding areas of Florida, there is an ever growing issue taking
place. This is an issue that many people are aware of and fear. They fear for their lives but should
they be afraid? Many people think that large constrictors are dangerous to humans, but little do
people understand that they are JUST as dangerous as a feral cat or dog. I m not saying you should
go pick up a wild burmese python and take it home as a pet. However, what I am saying, is there
have been some major overreactions to the invasion of large constrictors.
The large constrictor issue is suspected to have began with a breeding facility for large
constrictors in the everglades. What happened was a complete accident. As common practice
breeders keep their snakes in tubs on large racks, and it is rumored that during a hurricane the tubs
of his breeding stock were knocked over and the large constrictors released into the everglades
where they have since learned to
Infiniti s Athletic Midsize Sedan
Infiniti s athletic midsize sedan can now be had in an extended wheelbase version. The elongated
model delivers best in class rear seat legroom.
The luxury market is an intensely competitive one with BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Lexus seated
amongst the top sellers. The first two marques rely on diesels to supplement their gasoline offerings;
Lexus augments its standard models with hybrids.
Further down the luxury sales line Audi, Acura and Cadillac do battle, followed by Infiniti sitting in
a distant seventh place.
Infiniti may trail the leaders, but it has come on strong of late. For the second consecutive year
Infiniti has achieved record sales, rising by 13.8 percent in 2015. Most of those sales were in the

The extra inches benefit rear legroom, providing 41.8 inches of space for the three rear seating
passengers. Not quite matching limousine proportions, but very close indeed and you can cross
your legs. So, despite not having a flagship sedan to compete with the BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS, or
the Mercedes Benz S Class, the Q70L offers a reasonable alternative.
That alternative is marked by a handsome visage with a bold grille, a muscular hood, and strong
shoulders. From its sides, the Q70L offers a stately appearance with its long flowing lines, rising belt
line, and rocker panel ornamentation. Handsome dual quad aluminum alloy wheels and chrome
accents provide this model with added expressiveness.
The roofline flows into the raised rear deck that deck is accented by chrome embellishments,
wraparound combination lamps, and dual exhaust tips. Distinctive embrasures front and rear as well
as stylish LED light treatments add visual appeal to this already striking model.
Luxuriant and Sensibly Appointed Cabin
Inside, the cabin is bright, orderly and uncomplicated. And that s a good thing: some luxury
manufacturers have gone tech happy (or mad), making such vehicles less than user friendly.
The Infiniti Q70L is marked by flowing interior lines across the dashboard, on the instrument panel
hood, along the doors, and upon the seats. That look imparts a feeling of
Maxine Hong Kingston s Woman Warrior
Maxine Hong Kingston s Woman Warrior No Name Woman
The excerpt, No Name Woman , from Maxine Hong Kingston s book, Woman Warrior, gives
insight into her life as a Chinese girl raised in America through a tragic story of her aunt s life, a
young woman raised in a village in China in the early 1900s. The story shows the consequences
beliefs, taught by parents, have on a child s life. Kingston attempts to figure out what role the
teachings of her parents should have on her life, a similar attempt for many of us in the world.
Lessons taught by our parents, the people who brought us into this world, help guide us into the
people we become as adults. Hopefully, the guidance is positive.

How will Kingston learn when to speak of the bad?
Kingston?s mother spoke of the aunt only as a lesson to her daughter. Whenever she had to warn us
about life, my mother told stories that ran like this one, a story to grow up on. (Kingston, 321)
Kingston learned, from her mother, that her aunt committed suicide because she shamed herself, her
family and her village by becoming pregnant from a man other than her husband. Kingston, a young
woman at the time, was told, Now that you have started to menstruate, what happened to her could
happen to you. Don?t humiliate us. You wouldn?t like to be forgotten as if you had never been
born. The villagers are watchful. (Kingston, 321) This sounds like a threat, not a lesson for the
wise. What could Kingston have possibly learned from her mother?s story? Perhaps, we will not
love you if you do not follow our family rules.
Not once in the story about her Aunt was Kingston told what her aunt was like as a person. The
person did not matter. Kingston was left to use her own imagination. It appears that Kingston, like
many of us, had to use her own thoughts to make sense of why her Aunt was forgotten, why she
never existed. Yes, her aunt committed adultery, whether it be through rape, love or submission, as
Kingston points out as possible reasons for her aunt becoming pregnant, but to teach a child that
your life is nothing because of a mistake
Why Drawing Is Drawing
A person can have many skills, whether it be good or bad. Someone could paint really well or
could be a disastrous cook. There are many common skills such as doing underwater handstands and
then there are skills that are absolutely out of the blue, for example bending their index finger
backwards down the wrist. My skillisn t too common though it isn t very unique either. My skill isn
t painting or cooking, or even having strangely, stretchy fingers. My skill is drawing. Drawing is one
of my passions, because it is a good stress reliever and it can help express emotion. Drawing is
very useful for when I m upset and need something to boost my moralemood and is comforting
for just a normal, rainy day activity. I especially draw especially when I m bored or trying to pass
time. Some people agree, and find drawing fun, but others may find it frustrating or boring. I enjoy
drawing because it lets me work at my own pace. I casually sketch, whether it be for a novel or just
a plain doodle, I find a way to maneuver it into random pieces of work. I could be working on
notes, and sooner or later have a mural on the sides of the paper. This is funny considering that
when I get an actual sketching pad, the sketches look horrible, but on a sheet of scratched up... Show

I will admit, drawing is hard when you first attempt it, but drawing is made up of building blocks.
You start out with a pencil sketch, and start adding new edits and textures to make it more and
more vivid and detailed. I don t usually color drawings because they look better to me in mono,
but that gives me a chance to make the tiny details in the drawing a lot bigger. Drawing may come
as a gifted skill to some people where they can draw perfectly when a pencil is given to them, but I
find it hard to believe that without practice, a magnificent piece of art can be
Slave Trade Circumstances
Describe the Slave Trade and the Circumstances Under Which Africans Became Slaves Including
Their Journey and Challenges to the Colony.
In the 360 years of slave trade between 1500 and the 1860s, millions of Africans were forcibly
shipped to European settlers in America, then known as the New World. According to Gjerde, an
estimated one million people migrated to the area that would later become the United States; but
immigrant is not the best concept to describe these people (37). It was essentially the largest forced
migration in history framed by both free and unfree migrations with labor in an Atlantic economy
that linked Europe, Africa, and the Americas (Gjerde 37). First, there was the transatlantic slave
trade that transported millions of Africans to the Americas (Lockard 378). The inter regional slave
trade describes the next migration, which took the captives from the coast of the Atlantic to the
inland of South America. The last migration, mostly instigated by the native blacks in America,
brought Africans from the largely municipal North of America to the not so urban South of
America. All through the Atlantic World, the Middle Passage has essentially come to typify the
experience of African slaves. The terrifying weeks or months of being kept in the holds of foul
smelling slave ships largely speak to the harrowing loss of free will, and the long years of
captivity,as well as servitude that followed (Gjerde 50).
The beginning of slave trade in the

b.7 minutes by roommate: set oven (2 minutes), package (4 minutes), and accept payment (1 minute)
This represents 0.71 labor minutes per cookie (17 labor minutes / 24 cookies)
This means that there was a 29% reduction in labor (1 0.71), which means that it cost us 29% less in

The Importance Of British Imperialism In Britain
The British empire, as well as many others, were diminishing, during the post war era. The focus of
this essay is to answer the question debating the relevance of British imperialism on immigrants who
enter the United Kingdom during the post war period. In summary, the answer that will be provided
is that imperialism was the main contributor to pulling people towards Britain, yet it was not the
only one. On the other hand, the imperial status had no relevance on all the immigrants, and this also
will be discussed. Between the years of 1948 and 1962, it has been estimated that 500,000
immigrants from the British Commonwealth entered the United Kingdom. This essay will
concentrate on these years and these immigrants, as 1948 saw the opening... Show more content on

This was the ship that transported passengers from Commonwealth countries to Britain. The
passengers on board the Empire Windrush were predominately Jamaicans; but there were other
nationalities of Australians, Mexican, Polish, and other people from the Caribbean islands. The
docking of the Empire Windrush was a watershed moment, as Kushner explains that, on one side
was the empires end, while on the other was a revision of what British meant. The age of the empire
was when those living in Britain embarked on gaining territories for economic and prestige reasons,
spreading civilisation. However, since the end of the Second World War, colonies were demanding
independence, yet, for some who gained this independence, they still wanted some sense of British
influence. This was the beginning of the British Commonwealth. As the Phillips brothers point out,
however, prior to the Windrush arriving in Britain in 1947, there was a black population able to trace
their lineage back a few centuries. Additionally, during the Second World War, about ten thousand
West Indian men arrived in Britain, which was more than the entire pre war black population. Hence,
Britain was not new to having a black population, the problem was the numbers of this population
was increasing uncontrollably. Many of these passengers from the Commonwealth came to Britain
because of its imperial importance on their countries.
After the war, Western European countries experienced a labour shortage,
The Three Mile Island Meltdown

John Galt Character Analysis
Who is John Galt? A question asked often throughout the course of the novel, John Galt is an
unknowable entity, raised to mythical status by those who do not understand. John Galt is the
man who stopped the motor of the world. He is the man who would not sit by while those
thinkers, and innovators, those people who cared about the world, were slowly eradicated from
it. The general masses of people, those sheep were willing to vilify those that threatened their
sheltered lives, but John Galt would not stand for it. John Galt was the avenging angel of those
who had had their life s work stolen from them by people claiming it was for the greater good, of
those people who so desperately wanted to save the world, that they were willing to sacrifice

St John Case Study Geography
St John is one of the chief islands of the Virgin Islands of the United States in the Caribbean; the
other islands are St Croix, Water Island and St Thomas. St John is 4 miles east of St Thomas,
which has the port city of Charlotte Amalie, the territorial capital, and the only major airport for
the region. Geographically, the US Virgin Islands are part of the Leeward Islands of the Lesser
Antilles and were formerly known as the Danish West Indies until they were sold to the US by
Denmark in 1916. St John, only about twenty square miles in area with a permanent population of
slightly less than 5000, is a resort destination for affluent tourists. The island has no airport of any
kind, relying instead on ferry boats from St Thomas, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda.
Most of the island of St John is protected parkland. The tourist season is from late October through
June; the hot summer months are considered off season. The two major towns are Cruz Bay, a port
on the west side of the island, and Coral Bay, a smaller town on the east side. Both towns have

The percentage of active accounts per rep gives you an idea of how effective every salesperson is
at covering their given territory and the accounts assigned. Some reps performed better on smaller
territories while others can handle a larger mixture of accounts. Another criteria to consider when
deciding to redeploy is the total active accounts per sales rep. At least two of the youngest sales
reps sold more than half of the season reps. While it is true that their territories are smaller, the
number of active accounts in comparison to the other reps is equal to or higher. This provide insight

The Heart Of Brookhaven, Ms, J. Allan
Late 2011, in the heart of Brookhaven, MS, the first J Allan s was formed by James Danny
Smith. Named in honor of Danny s father, James Allan Smith, the store was an homage to the
legacy James Allan had left behind upon his passing in 2010. Allan, as well as his father, had
preceded Danny in the furniture industry and passed their knowledge through the generations.
Due to the overwhelming success of the Brookhaven location, the decision was made to open a
second location in Hattiesburg, MS, which is where my interning journey took place. J. Allan s
of Hattiesburg, located at 6169 Highway 98 West, Suite 10, is within a small shopping strip. A
few of the businesses surrounding it include Academy Spots, Papa Murphey s, Massage Envy,
and Cheddar s. The rental space is approximately () square feet and is composed mostly of one
large room, which comprises the sales floor. At the back of the building are a few small rooms
which include restrooms and a storage space with a large roll up door. Within the sales floor are
very few permeant objects, which include a few small divider walls and the large desk. Around the
room are varying arrangements of furniture. Some are set to mimic a bedroom, while others
simulate a small living room. Although at any given moment the spaces resemble a convincing
living space, they are an ever changing feature. As furniture is sold, and new pieces are brought in,
the assorted bits of furniture are constantly arranged and rearranged in order to create
