How Much Is It Costing You to Breath Comfortably
How Much Is It Costing You to Breath Comfortably
It is hard to imagine how life would be without air conditioners. Before these electronic devices
came, people used to keep large masses of ice to cool the place. When air conditioners were
invented, their capacity was measured depending relative to the amount of ice melted in a day. This
is where the word a ton of cooling came to be. A small home air conditioner is able to deliver two
tons of cooling with a larger one about five tons. A ton is expressed as 12,000 BTUs per hour
(British Thermal Units). A good air conditioner is able to maintain the indoor environment in the
desired temperature.
Unlike many other electrical devices, a conditioner needs several aspects to run properly. If ... Show

Others have dealership agreements with service firms who repair certain models. It is recommended
that you use authorised professional technicians if any around your area. If none, it would be prudent
that you research for the best qualified technical team for your repairs. Visit manufacture and air
conditioning installer websites and seek for good deals by contacting them. Most of them offer free
quotes for both new installation and repairs.
Major repair areas
1.Filters
Every air conditioner has a grill like or shiny paper compartment upstream an evaporator that
filters dirt particles from getting to the cooling unit. With time, filters are filled with dirt particles
reducing airflow to the main system. This forces the conditioner to work harder. In addition, a
dirty filter is also a source of air pollution into your house. You could have filters changed or
cleaned every six months or less depending on quality of outdoor area.
2.Air ducts
Air ducts transfer conditioned air across the building. When the ducts start leaking, you stand to
lose up to fifty percent of your energy. This is because the system tries to compensate for the loss.
Where air ducts pass to the outside, you need to have them well insulated. A professional contractor
can help free up to a half a ton of your conditioner s capacity by sealing the ducts.
3.Condensing unit
This is the outside compartment of the air conditioner. You need
Marquis De Condorcet
The belief that societal progress is necessary to remedy public ills has maintained its popularity over
the course of many years, but different thinkers have taken various approaches as to the best means
for this development. The Enlightenment thinker the Marquis de Condorcet and former Soviet
Union ruler Vladimir Lenin were two men of drastically different backgrounds who possessed
dissimilar views about the nature of social evolution. Whereas Condorcet remains optimistic about
the capability of democratic progress throughout his work The Progress of the Human Mind, Lenin
insists in his State and Revolution that only socialistic evolution will be able to aid society, which
ultimately suggests that social development is not limited to one path but rather is shaped by the
desires of the people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This optimistic view of indefinite improvement helps to establish his firm belief that achieving this
particular political system is the best goal for society. Condorcet has faith in the idea of the human
race, emancipated from its chains proceeding forth with all his efforts to assist the progress of
reason and the establishment of liberty (Condorcet 460). A key component of democracy is the
notion that people should have the liberty to participate in their government and embrace their
human rights, so by striving to establish liberty and reason, mankind is therefore spreading
democracy. Although this system will take time to develop, Condorcet is just as optimistic about the
certainty of progress as he is about democracy s role in the
The Meaning Of Life In Siddhartha
iddhartha LAP
Topic #8
Abid Ahmad
Everything we do in the world is absolutely pointless. We as humans are irrelevant specks in the
vast universe that go about our repetitive lives for no apparent reason. At the end of the day, it
makes no difference how much good or bad we do in the world. This is the ignorant view of the
world that fails to see the perfect harmony in which we all live our lives. The redundant cycles
that we try so hard to get away from are part of our overarching connectedness as humans. As parts
of a whole, all of us have a role to play in making our lives better for ourselves and others. Our role
is the very meaning of life, and we should embrace it wholeheartedly. The novel Siddhartha by
Hermann Hesse stresses this cyclical unification through various circular constructions throughout
Siddhartha s life. Siddhartha had to deal with many individual stages of his life that seemed
pointless. These cycles almost drove him to the point of suicide, but he was saved by the river
which acted as a symbol for his entire life, as a united whole. This was the gateway to his attainment
of enlightenment, allowing him to feel closer to everyone around him. Siddhartha began as an
affluent Brahmin s son, coveted by all close to him. His family and friends greatly admired the level
of intuition and intellect that Siddhartha had possessed. Govinda, his best friend, constantly adored
him and followed in his footsteps. In this life, Siddhartha began the
Colonialism In After Amnesia
After Amnesia, Of Many Heroes A dominated culture learns not just to be like the culture that
dominates it, but also tries to cover its own surroundings. In such cultural encounters, amnesia plays
the most important role in defining the self perception of cultures. G. N. Devy s After Amnesia, first
published in 1992, offers an keen study of contemporary literary scholarship in Indian languages by
indicating how modern Indian languages learnt to forget that literary criticism had been discarded by
them during the post Sanskrit medieval centuries, and how they have posed before themselves a
false choice of scholar practices fixed in culturally distant Western or Sanskrit traditions. After

Symbolically, he suffers from colonialism and also the sins of progress. The violence of these
events commands the need for a Freud or an Adorno. Yet one mourns the absence of a reliable
local reading of colonialism. India lacks a Fanon or an Edward Said, someone who can split apart
the supposed in authenticity of the wrongly classical and yet question the hypocrisy of the
contemporary. We can, obviously, present an Ashish Nandy and celebrate his models of
colonialism in terms of the sexuality of male and female and also adduce Gandhi as an answer.
Gandhi fits the challenge to hegemony from such a structure. Later, Nandy created the opposition
between myth and history arguing that symptoms of history are often a precursor of cruelty in our
humanity. One thinks of the destruction of the Babri Mosque or the violent rhetoric of Narendra
Modi in this context. Nandy, while playful, is often incomplete, a more happy go lucky cuckoo,
laying his assumption like eggs waiting for some dull social science crow to formulate them. At
another level, for all their agility, Nandy s essays still appear like a Freudian salad served up with

The effects of Rome and Religion on the Byzantium and Western Empire
After the assassination and destabilization following Julius Caesar s death, Augustus was able to
reestablish a prosperous Roman Empire, a time period lasting two and a half centuries. After the
start of the Severan Dynasty became a period of horrific economic state for the Roman Empire after
enormous expenditures in military expenses. This marked the start of the Crisis of the Third
Century also known as the Imperial Crisis. Over a period of a half century, from 235 284 BC, there
were 26 known emperors making attempts to lead the country out of its own depression. During this
time period, the Empire had split into three competing states: the Gallic Empire, the Palmyrene ...

The World Of The Middle Ages
Since the Middle Ages, Islam has been defined as a distinguishable Other from the European
population, as the Crusades characterized Europe as a distinctly Christian entity warring against the
Muslim identity of the Middle East. Religion has been a divisive force for centuries in these
portions of the world, but the 1905 laïcité law in Franceestablished this nation as a secular society,
breaking away from Christianity and promoting the privatization of religion in order to guarantee
its free exercise. 20th century France witnessed waves of immigration in the form of those of
Islamic descent, first with unskilled laborers from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia coming to work
in French factories. The Algerian War between France and the Algerian National Liberation Front
saw a second massive wave of those with Muslim affiliation, as Algerians who fought with the
French Army feared the NLF s wrath after Algerian independence and migrated to France in its
aftermath during the 1960s and 1970s. Today, France is home to between 4 and 5 million Muslims,
which is the largest Muslim population in the continent of Europe, but this presence has done little
to alleviate the influence of the Othering of Muslims in French society. Terrorist attacks committed
by extremist Islamic groups in recent years, such as the Charlie Hebdo killings in January 2015, the
Paris suicide bombings of November 2015, and the truck running over crowds celebrating Bastille

Rene Descartes Dreaming Argument Essay
Dreaming Argument
Dreaming is something we all are subject to. Every night when we lay down in our beds we
dream, now whether or not we can remember our dreams is a different story. Dreams can be very
realistic and they have been speculated and researched but we know little about our dreams, what
they mean, and the sensations or feelings they provide for us. As far as we know dreaming is our
unconscious mind acting out desires, possibly because we cannot do them or experience those
events in our waking life. Since dreaming is so under researched and we know little about it, it
has been speculated by many people. Rene Descartes go in depth on this subject and his ideas on
what dreaming is arguing that we cannot distinguish the difference between being awake and
being asleep. That is a very bold statement and put in a seemingly simplistic way, recorded in his
first meditations. What Descartes does is challenge our preconceived notions of dreaming and
puts us in the frame of mind to answer for ourselves if we are dreaming right now or are we
actually experiencing reality. Descartes makes us come face to face with the reality that we
actually don t know if we are dreaming. His claims that we may be dreaming is a well known
philosophical argument in the Western world and I hope to discover the truth behind his argument
and shed light on how I perceive his philosophy on the dreaming world. I will shed light on this
dream argument by interpreting what Descartes says, other
Summary Of The Crying Of Lot 49
The mid and late 20th century is marked by the cultural movement known as postmodernism, which
redefined philosophy and literature. Postmodernism challenged the established modernist style of
literature by deconstructing the notion of an objective reality and championing satire, skepticism,
and paranoia. The notion of self determination and one s ability to control their own life is largely
dependent on their ability to actualize their identity: to find meaning in their life. But, any
postmodernist would be skeptical of the idea that one can ever actually find true meaning in a
society filled with superficial and meaningless ideals. One of the preeminent works of postmodern
literature, The Crying of Lot 49, attempts to explore and critique this notion of self determination
as it relates to popular culture and society. Oedipa Maas, a suburban housewife, finds her life
unraveling before her as she discovers a world conspiracy by the underground organization The
Trystero to dominate the mail carrier industry. As Oedipa finds herself more and more isolated, she
tries to find self validation and meaning in her life. In The Crying of Lot 49, Thomas Pynchon
critiques the notion of self determination by asserting that to truly find meaning in life ones must
reject mainstream society. Through the use of satire and the instability of his characters, Pynchon
asserts the idea life is desiccated within the confines of a superficial consumerist society. In The

Assessment And Formative Assessment
Overview
the process used by teachers and students to recognize and respond to student learning to enhance
that learning, during the learning (Cowie Bell, 1999, p. 32) is one way to define formative
assessments. This definition stresses the idea of formative assessment being a continuous process
which should improve teaching, learning, and achievement. Therefore, when reflecting upon the
assessment strategies observed within my classroom to be most the effective in progressing learning
the one thing that comes to my mind is a formative assessment. The best way to understand formative
assessment is by comparing it and contrasting it with summative assessments. In this essay, I will
critically analyze how formative assessment may be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the evidence that has been gathered by a practitioner over a period to make a judgment about
where the child is now. It is conducted at the end of the course. It treats abilities as they were finite
and absolute. Whereas formative assessment is defined by Cohen, L (2010) as feedback for teacher
and student for their current learning achievements, strength and weakness so they know what to do
next to improve, enhance or extend learning. Formative assessments are an ongoing process of
observations they are administered throughout the unit and recorded daily. For that formative
assessment accepts that abilities can develop and change. Also, summative assessment doesn t help
individual students since it does not provide feedback on a particular aspect of knowledge or skill
within a subject area. Whereas the primary purpose of formative assessments is to improve
instruction and provide student feedback the students use the results in a formative assessment to
self monitor understanding. A study conducted by Black and William (1998) concludes that
formative assessment does improve students learning. Its cyclist approach observes
Fear In Abusive Relationships
Relationships are about respect and love towards one another but when the disrespect falls into the
picture everything falls apart. Disrespect can be either verbally or physically and many of those
who have fallen into this type of abusive relationship tend to have barriers on leaving that significant
other. In most cases, fear has been the main key factor on why these victims tend to stay within the
abusive relationship. Even though fear has been the main factor but there are other factors that run
through a victims mind constantly. Victims are afraid they, themselves or their loved ones will get
extremely hurt or be killed by these batters. Besides getting hurt, the victim fears that the batter will
take away his or her child leaving them
