PROCEDURE TEXT
A. DEFINITION OF PROCEDURE TEXT
Procedure Text is text of its contens related to how to make, do, or operate something in
sequence. Usually mention various materials or tools required.
B. GOALS OF PROCEDURE TEXT
Contains the steps or sequences that must be done so that the objectives outlined in the
aim/goal to be achieved. Steps or sequences must be a sequence from the first to the last. The
purpose of procedure text is to tell the reader how to do or make something.
C. FUNCTION OF PROCEDURE TEXT
Procedure text is a piece of written or spoken text which has the social function to inform the
readers or the listeners how to make or to do something. It can be in the form of a set of
instructions, directions or a manual.
D. STRUCTURE OF PROCEDURE TEXT
1. Goal/ aim : Goals or goals mean the goal of making or operating on something.
2. Materials : Materials are necessary materials to do things. Seriously, though, is there really no
need for procedure? As an example, "how to use the computer. "(how to use a computer).
There are three types of procedural text that do not use materials materials. Consider the
following :
First, procedure texts to explain how to do manual instruction for example, how to use
video games, the computer, the tape recorder, the fax, and so on.
Second, procedural text which instructs where to engage in certain activities and
regulations. "For example, road safety" "rules," "video games" "" rules," and so on.
Third, procedural text is related to human nature or habits. For example, how to live
happily, or how to happily, and so on.
3. Steps (steps) : Containing steps or sequences that must be taken can be attained. For the
record, the procedure is how to usually omit matter. That needed (materials materials).
E. LANGUAGE FUTURE
1. Adverbs : The caption in this text is to justify time. For example for 10 minutes, in an hour. It
could also use information on how to do such things carefully, fastly, slowly.
2. Imperative : The imperative sentence is a command sentence that usually USES the action verb
or verb 1 that gives direct instruction. So start or write each step by putting the verb at the
front. Example : slice the lemon , mix water and sugar.
3. Simple Present Tense : The simple present tense is used to present the facts. So use the
sentence that indicates using or making something. For example : add,slice, or serve.
4. Action Verb : Action verb is a verb that tells that there is a physical activity. For example :
knead,cut ,cook.
5. Connective of sequence : In this one text must have a connecting function is to connect one
step with another. For example: and then,next,after that or firstly,secondly,and last.
F. EXAMPLE OF PROCEDURE TEXT
How to Make Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream
Ingredients:
1. 1 can of full-cream milk.
2. 2 cups of heavy cream.
3. 1 dark chocolate bar.
4. semi-sweet chocolate chips (around 10 grams).
Steps:
1. Break the dark chocolate bar into chunks.
2. Melt the chocolate bar in the microwave or in a double boiler.
3. As it melts, stir the chocolate.
4. Remove the chocolate from the heat.
5. Pour the can of full-cream milk into the melted chocolate slowly while stirring the
mixture.
6. When the mixture is mixed thoroughly, set aside.
7. In a separate bowl, mix the heavy cream with a manual or electric mixer until stiff peaks
form.
8. Combine the whipped cream and chocolate mixture.
9. Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the mixture.
10. Fold together until all of them are completely mixed.
11. Store in a closed container and freeze for around 2-3 hours.
