3. (a) State how carbon(iv)oxide is produced in the laboratory.

(d) Describe carbon cycle.

4. (a) Define mole. What is molar solution?


(b) (i) Calculate the mass concentration of the following:
(ii) 1.0 moldm-3 Potassium hydroxide.
(iii) 0.1 moldm-3 trioxonitrate(v) acid.
(iv) 0.05 moldm-3 solution of sodium trioxocarbonate (iv) decahydrate

(c) Ethane burns completely in oxygen according to the following equation:

neutralized 25cm3 sodium trioxocarbonate (iv) solution. Calculate the concentration
of the trioxocarbonate(iv) solution. (H=1, N=14, O=16, Na=23, C=12).

(b) How is metallic sodium usually stored? Explain why?
(c) State how you will test and confirm the presence of Na+ in a given white salt.
(d) State 3 uses each of (i) Na (ii) NaOH (iii) NaCl (iv) Na2SO4

3. (a) What is the main source of Aluminium in nature?


(b) State the reason why iron corrode easily on exposure to air but aluminium does
