ENGAGE Group the class into 4 groups. Give each group the

Read a story
One day, father brought home a family pizza pie. His wife and two children
EXPLORE were so happy with it. If the four of them are about to receive an equal share,
(10 mins.) into how many part should the pizza pie be divided?
a. What did father bought?
b. If the four of them will eat the pizza, how many part should the pie
divided?

● Explain to the learners that when a whole is divided into


two parts or equal sizes, we call each part one-half.
● Write one-half on the board, the word and the symbol.

Developing Mastery

ELABORATE ● Tell the pupils that the 2 below the bar tells the number of equal
(10 mins) parts the whole has been divided while the 1 tells the part being
considered.
● Also, explain to the pupils that in this activity, the whole is the
sheet of paper and each part is one-half of this sheet of paper.
Write ½ on each part.

Differentiated Activities:

Divide the class into three groups.

Group 1 Using the sheet of paper draw an object and divide it


into half and show the ½ portion by doing a collage using the bits
of colored paper.

Group 2 Using the sheet of paper draw an object and divide it


into half and show the ½ portion by coloring it

Group 3 Using the sheet of paper draw an object and divide it


into half and show the ½ portion by using malunggay leaves.

Direction: Encircle the letter of the fraction that shows


¼ or one-fourth.
