Longitudinal Section & Cross Section Work Using Automation Survey Method Purposes:
i. Generate longitudinal section and cross section by automation using previous topographic surveying data along the road. ii. Produce plan by using survey software. (CDS & AUTOCAD).
Work Procedures:
Determine the area for interpolate profiles and sections from topographic survey data in CDS software. For example along the road. In CDS, add string along the centre line of road. Type in a folder name of 'road' and a string ID of 'cl'.
Select the string to interpolate a profile
Pull down the Contour menu, highlight Interpolate, and select Profiles and Sections. Fills in a value of 20 for the fields titled Left and Right. select the “Refresh Table” button
A cross section is displayed, as well as the profile, and you can use the Next & Previous buttons to move backwards and forwards through the cross sections Press the OK+Save key, then click cancel The cross section points will be created automatically on the screen.
Pull down Road, select Display and Plotting and select Display Profile. You will see the profile drawn. Pull down Road, select Display and Plotting and this time select Display Sections. You will see the first cross section drawn Produce Longitudinal and Cross Section Plan
Set print setup, with paper size A3, orientation landscape.
Pull down Road, select Display and Plotting and select Profile Parameters to adjust the drawing in suitable view.
At Road Works Parameters display, click Format to put Label – Distance (m) and Reduce Level (m). Click File, select Print Preview to see the Long Section Drawing. You must Display the Profile first before preview the drawing.
Pull down Road again, select Display and Plotting and select Section Parameters to adjust the cross section drawing. You must Display the Section first before preview the drawing.
Next step is export all the drawing to AutoCad Software for editing in produce Longitudinal and Cross section drawing plan.
